So maybe training hasn't been going great. That doesn't mean shit. All it means is that the only thing I'm thinking about is what happened last time I genuinely used my magic.

Not little simple times when I burn the candle. No, I mean really used my magic.

"Haven!" Nadia runs up to me. "There you are."

Ive been in the library for the past two hours, studying different ways to control magic.

It's harder than it looks.

"Yeah..." I nod, trying not to seem too glum. "Ive been studying."

She looks at me before closing her eyes, muttering to herself.

"Marie says you've been struggling." She states.

"Well tell whoever Marie is, to mind her business."

"First off, that wasn't nice." She whispers something to herself. "And second, you're coming with me for a break."

"A break?" I glance up at her. "I have things to do Nadia, I can't go yet."

"Well you're going whether you want to or not." She grabs the three books that were lying around my table and starts putting them away.
"It's the first party since you've came to this school, I am so not letting you miss it."

"Okay, just put all my shit away, that's fine I guess." I roll my eyes, feeling annoyed.

"Haven, just give it a chance." Seeming obviously tired of my mood swings.

"I already told you no, Nadia." I scoot my chair back. "That means cut it out."

I get out of my chair and start to pack up my bag, wanting nothing more than to leave.

Nadia grabs my wrist before I push her off.

She moves back, visibly surprised before regaining her composure. "You can't get mad at me for doing this shit when you don't talk to any of us about any of your problems Haven. You just hide in the library or training room after something bothers you."

I look up and glare, the light bulbs in the library flicker and start ringing. "Nothing about my life or thoughts concern any of you, Nadia. I've known you guys for less than two months, sorry I'm not more open to sharing my sob story."

Her eyes widen and she crosses her arms over her chest. "We've never asked that of you!" Nadia walks closer to me and looks down. "You've just been a brat about this whole ordeal. No one wants to be here, but we all at least try to make the most of it. I just thought you wanted a break from everything."

Her voice gets quieter towards the end and I instantly start feeling bad.

"Nads, I get that, but I need to understand how to fix my powers." I sigh. "How about this. I go to this party with you, and I can try to open up to you guys more, but you all have to understand something."
