But do I does it really matter? If I kill a single human?

Maybe not, but I made him a promise

And I know how much a broken promise hurts.

I'm not ready

I'm sorry Will

BLOOD 🩸 ...

I can smell it.

It's sweet nectar draws me towards it. The thought of a meal excites me.

It's as though I haven't eaten in years.

Maybe I haven't, not properly at least. Gods what was I thinking only drinking from rodents, while human blood smells so delicious, is so readily available from such helpless creatures. The enticing smell leads me down a flight of stairs.

Ah I remember now. This is where I keep the food. I open the door quickly, letting it slam against the stone wall.

"Nico? What's going on? Are you okay?"

My head swings around. In the corner with a book in his lap sits a tall human. I picked a good one. Tall enough to provide a good meal, but not muscular enough to put up a struggle. I can't wait to see him try. I walk towards him slowly. His eyes go wide and he backs himself further into to corner, dumb move, but it makes things easier for me. I push my hand against the wall pinning him in the middle. He's breathing fast and shallow. Pathetic. I push my face towards his neck. His clothes are slightly too big leaving his neck completely exposed. He struggles against my grip but vampires are much stronger even though I'm smaller than Will...

Will.... Wait this isn't okay, he doesn't want me to do this, I'm going to hurt him.

"Is this okay?" I find myself asking, I don't know why I ask that but it just felt right. He stops struggling for a moment. There's tears in his eyes, what am I doing? This feels wrong. Is this okay? (No Nico, no it is not)

He looks up at me, studying me for a moment.

"F-fine just.... Remember you promised..." Then the moment ends and I'm again craving the humans blood.

Why would I stop to ask him? How stupid of me, and how stupid of him to agree to be a vampire's meal. Cute little thing doesn't even know he's about to die.

I rest my mouth on his neck, fangs building up pressure but not quite breaking the skin. He shakes slightly below me, but he's not fighting me anymore.

I push a little harder and the skin bursts apart, the boy letting out a little squeak. I push my fangs further into his skin and the boy screams, trying to pull away. Ugh, he's going to get himself killed jerking around like that. I pull my fangs out for a moment.

"Shhh... you're making it worse for yourself." I breathe, and he slams my mouth shut with a nod. I go back in sucking more and more blood. It's delicious not overly sweet or salty but with a powerful healthy flavour.

"Ni...co... it hurts, please." He falls to the ground and I join him there, not stopping.

He whimpers as I continue to feed. He grabs at my arm but his grip is weak. The boy starts to go limp, and I frown, I was hoping he'd last a little longer.

"Please... you promised..." he whispers, so quietly it sounds more like a breath.

I finally snap out of it. No no no no no. I pick Will off the ground lifting him up onto his bed. He's much lighter than before.

"JULES! JULES HELP ME PLEASE!" I scream, Will flinches next to me. Good, he's still awake. Jules runs into the room. He grabs my arm looking me all over for injuries.

"Sir? What is it?" He asks ignoring the drained boy.

"I-I couldn't stop myself, I think I took too much" I point to Will who's trembling beside me. Jules lifts Will's head up, taking a close look at him.

"He'll be fine, sir, just bring him some water one of those granola bars. (Fun fact: this is not accurate medical information, if a vampire sucks way too much of your blood please go see a doctor, and maybe also a therapist)

I rush upstairs and grab what Jules said. I then go back down and place them in front of Will.

"Um, sir, you'll have to help him, he's far too weak in this state." I look at the blonde. Jules-Albert is correct, he can't even get his eyes open.

I uncap the water bottle and open the boy's mouth, carefully placing the opening inside. (Please do not do this, you might kill someone) With a little tilt I pour some into his mouth, then some more after I feel him swallow.

After a couple minutes he's drunk the whole bottle and we move onto the granola bar. At first I slowly feed him it bit by bit but he quickly snatches it out of my hand and starts eating it himself. Human's are such weird creatures.

After he finishes the granola bar he seems to be on the verge of passing out, so I usher Jules out of the room to leave Will to rest alone.

He falls asleep shortly after we leave and I watch him all night, still worried he'll die and my promise will be broken.

When I finally sleep I'm haunted by myself, by the monster I've proven myself to be.
