Meraki Hera Williams POV
Martha's cousin turned out to be great! Josh Young is the perfect fit for my team and I! I mean broke out my freaking dork dance after our interview was finished.
But Alas! It was the calm before the storm! Because when we finally dived into the project we realized just how fucked we were! All of it only made me angry at myself for wasting so much time with Seth and not firing him sooner!
Josh not only knows his stuff but is also able to make us understand everything! It has fast-tracked our project but has also increased the amount of overtime we are putting in! I am so proud and happy that none of my employees have complained and understood that as soon as we make up for the time lost, everyone can go back to their normal hours.
Honestly? All this work has resulted in a surprising yet amazing side effect! That I am so tired these days that I can sleep for a few hours almost every day without sleeping pills and nightmares!
It has been amazing! And I finally understand what the fuss is all about when everyone talks about how much they love sleeping!
ANYWAY! I got sidetracked but I am happy to report that the project is officially on track and there is no way I am getting fired anytime soon!
Well, that's what I thought until Tuesday when Miss Sayeed's assistant entered my office with a nervous and fearful expression as he dropped two stacks of papers on my desk. I looked over the first one to realize it was the physical report I sent to her yesterday.
Yes, physical report. Miss Sayeed preferred physical reports instead of emails. I sometimes think about how ancient this woman is...
"What happened, Zion?" I ask as I eyed the stack of papers before looking toward him. We have interacted more than enough times to get over the formalities.
"Uh...MK, Miss Sayeed has sent back your report on what you did wrong and what you can do better. The other stack of papers is how to correct your...uh...mistakes and some suggestions." The poor guy said with so much nervousness as if I would yell at him. I won't but his boss on the other hand...
I sigh heavily before I lean over, taking my report first as I open to a random page only for my eyes to pop out of their sockets at the number of things she has 'highlighted'.
But at this point, I am not surprised.
"Did your boss ever think about becoming a teacher? She would be great at it..." I mumble but he doesn't respond nor did I expect him to.
"You can leave Zion, Thanks..." I say passing him a small smile before concentrating back on the papers.
I soon realize that the guy hasn't moved an inch making me groan in irritation...internally. What does she want?
"What?" I ask more roughly than necessary but it's 10 pm. My patience left around 8 pm.
"She wants to see the results by tomorrow night, 10 pm." He says as he buries his hands in his pockets.
"Understood," I say sombrely before he leaves with a nod.
I rub my eyes and turn around in my chair facing the wall as I rub my eyes before taking my phone out of my pocket.
Me: I won't be home until 7 or 8. Don't wait up.
With that text to Layla, I turn around and take a look at the stack of papers. I crack my knuckles as a plan forms in my head...
1. Finish both stacks by midnight.
2. Make my notes for my team and me, by 1 am.
3. Finish everything and go home by 8 to 9 am.
