Y/N's POV

I skated down to the meeting spot where I told him to meet me the day prier. It had been a few weeks since I had officially became friends with the turtles, and it was still an unreal experience for someone who was used to having only two friends. Splinter had taken me under his tail, quite literally, and was training me in the ways of my clan and teaching me about my parents. He was a remarkable master, second only to my parents. His wisdom was invaluable, and he was constantly helping me enhance my existing skills while introducing me to new ones. I felt a deep sense of gratitude for having found him, but despite all the progress, I wasn't any closer to finding my missing parents. They were still out there, searching for Splinter, and I couldn't give up on finding them either. I had exhausted all kinds of search methods – security cams, DNA tracking, you name it – yet they seemed to have disappeared without a trace.

As I reached the meeting spot, I kicked up my skateboard and tucked it under my arm. With a cautious step, I entered the alleyway, my eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of the purple-clad turtle. Suddenly, I felt a presence behind me, causing my grip on the board to tighten reflexively. Swiftly, I spun around and swung the board in a defensive gesture, only to narrowly miss hitting someone. It was Donatello. He had deftly tucked his head into his shell, managing to dodge my blow.

"Hey D," I greeted, letting out a relieved breath.

"Man, I love being a turtle," Donatello exclaimed, popping his head out of his shell with a grin. His endearing gap-toothed smile was as reassuring as ever. "Hey, (Y/N)."

"Good thing too. Could have knocked your head off," I joked, feeling a rush of camaraderie.

"So... why did you bring me out here?" he asked, his curiosity piqued by this unexpected meeting.

"Don't worry, follow me," I replied gripping my board. I scaling a nearby fire escape with my natural agility. Eager to uncover the mystery, he followed suit. As Donatello nimbly navigated across the rooftops, I skated alongside him, our movements complementing each other. The cityscape stretched out before us as we embarked on this rooftop adventure, my anticipation growing as I was excited to show him what I found

I skidded to a halt, prompting him to stop. I pointed downwards, directing his attention to something below. I saw his eyes widened as we peered over the edge of the rooftop, revealing not just any junkyard, but a military junkyard. "Are we breaking in there?" he asked, his voice tinged with both excitement and a hint of caution.

"We aren't gonna break in just slip into government property with out them knowing," I replied enthusiastically, leaping down without hesitation. He followed suit, landing on the other side of the fence with a soft thud. I pulled the hood of my hoodie over my head, a subtle attempt to conceal my identity just in case.

As I was about to address Donnie, I realized he had already dashed off into the junkyard, his eyes alight with curiosity. He moved from one pile of discarded metal to another, inspecting each piece with unwavering interest and occasionally muttering to himself about their potential uses. A broad grin stretched across his face, and it was hard not to be amused by his sheer enthusiasm for all things technological. Silently, I approached him and crouched down, listening intently as he rambled on about the piece of metal he was holding in his hand. "I could hook this to my computer and enhance the search engine's speed, but..." he trailed off, lost in thought.

"Hey, Donnie," I called out, waving my hand in front of his face to bring him back to the present moment. He snapped out of his reverie, looking at me with a sheepish smile. "Sorry, (Y/N), didn't mean to nerd out on you," he apologized.

"No problem at all. I do the same thing sometimes," I reassured him, returning to rummaging through the pile of discarded items. We worked in companionable silence for a while, the clinks of metal and rustling of debris providing a rhythmic backdrop to our thoughts.

After a moment, Donnie broached a more personal topic, his voice hesitant. "So, just throwing it out there... um... why were you against being friends?" I paused in my actions, my fingers hovering over a particularly interesting piece of machinery before continuing. Donnie's genuine curiosity and empathy made it easier to consider opening up.

"If you don't want to talk about it, that's okay," Donnie quickly interjected, sensing my hesitation.

"No, I think I should share a bit," I said, realizing that this was an opportunity to confide in a friend. "I was scared. I feared that people I love will leave me. So I push people away. Of course I realized you guys wouldn't do that, especially with your whole situation." I joke

Donnie's gentle touch on my arm compelled me to look at him. His warm, concerned brown eyes held an emotion that I couldn't quite define. "(Y/N), you won't have to worry about that ever again," he assured me. His words were like a comforting balm, and an unfamiliar warmth spread through my chest, genuinely making me feel happier than I had in a while. "Good, because if you let me down, you won't see the next day," I quipped, lightening the mood with a playful threat.

"Hey!" a voice suddenly yelled, accompanied by the glare of a flashlight that illuminated us. "Oh, crap. Popo," I cursed under my breath, realizing that we must have been so engrossed in our conversation that we didn't hear him approaching.

Donnie's panic was palpable as he questioned, "What do we do?"

"I got this, okay?" I reassured him with a touch of determination.

"What are you doing?" the guard demanded, his tone both wary and incredulous.

"Sir, have you heard of smoke bombs?" I asked innocently.

"BOMBS!" the guard shouted, his voice rising in alarm.

Seizing the moment, I quickly retrieved a smoke bomb from my hoodie pocket and hurled it in the guard's direction. Unfortunately, it struck his head without releasing any smoke. The guard clutched his head in pain and groaned. "Looks like that one was an empty shell," I chuckled.

"RUN WHILE HE'S DOWN!" I yelled to Donnie, and we sprinted off. The guard's enraged shouts followed us, but being trained ninjas, we easily outpaced him. We managed to escape the junkyard and took refuge in a nearby manhole, finally able to catch our breath. Locking eyes, we both burst into laughter, the tension and adrenaline of the chase releasing in a cascade of mirth.

"Why are we laughing?" I asked between giggles, wiping away tears that had formed from our amusement.

"I have no idea," Donnie admitted, his laughter still bubbling up.

After our laughter subsided, we began walking through the sewers. Donnie's expression turned a bit somber as he seemed to realize something. "Oh man," he sighed.

"What's wrong?" I inquired, facing him.

"We didn't really manage to salvage anything worthwhile, did we?" Donnie's disappointment was evident.

I reached into my pocket and retrieved an AI chip that I had picked up. "Actually, I grabbed this A.I. chip. It could be pretty advanced, given its military origin. Might even be made from copolymers," I explained.

"Fascinating. You know, copolymers are my favorite," Donnie remarked, examining the chip. He started to hand it back to me, but I shook my head.

"It's for you," I insisted, closing his hand around the chip.

"Seriously?" Donnie's surprise was evident.

"Yeah, think of it as a gift from a friend," I said, a soft smile playing on my lips.

Donnie's cheeks turned a shade of red, but he accepted the chip graciously. "Anyway, I've got to head topside. See you, Don," I said, waving goodbye before making my way back to the surface.

A little bonding time with our turtle and feelings are starting to bloom!!
