I started to be aware of my surroundings but it was still completely dark.

Was it this pitch black in here or my eyes were still closed?

My breathing got deeper and fuller, I felt my chest rising and falling. I got the feeling back in my fingertips, I could feel the cotton underneath them.

With that I also started to feel a numb pain spreading from my right thigh.

My brows were furrowed and I slowly began to blink my eyes open.

I groaned at how uncomfortable I felt. The light was burning my retinas and the pain got worse and worse with every passing second.

I glanced around because I had no idea what's going on and my eyes suddenly fell on someone.

It made everything freeze inside me that I didn't recognize the man for a brief second.

"Oh- umm, hi." I croaked to Will awkwardly. To be fair I was surprised he was still here, despite his promise that he will be.

He had his phone in his hands but locked it and put it away in his pocket.

"Morning." He nodded. "How are you feeling?"

Hearing his deep voice and looking at his face more and more, I got back my memories from the mission and it made my head ache.

He had a serious expression on his face and a furrow in his brows like he was kinda angry. He had this look on his face yesterday too, but I thought it was only because of the difficult situation we've been in, but I guess that's his normal expression.

"Good, good. Leg's hurting a bit, but not too bad."

I rubbed my eyes a bit, trying to wake myself up a bit.

"Thank you by the way. For everything. For coming back for me, for keeping me alive and also for staying with me." I said sincerely.

I felt bad that he saw me in this vulnerable position, but I was truly grateful even if I couldn't show it properly.

"It's okay, you don't have to thank me anything. It was my obligation. We don't leave anyone behind."

I nodded and felt my heart sink to my stomach a bit. I needed to break the uncomfortable silence that seemed to settle.

"How did the surgery go?"

I suddenly grew anxious, I quickly checked that my leg is still in its place.

"Don't worry, everything went smoothly. The bullet was deep but didn't do too much damage so you can expect a full recovery."

I let out a sigh of relief. "Thank fucking god." I shook my head and smiled lightly.

I was snapped out of my thoughts by his phone ringing.

He hung up rather quickly, after he murmured a few words I couldn't hear properly.

"I have to go. Work stuff." He typed away on the device and then locked it to look up at me again. "I'll tell your doctor that you woke up." He showed me a small smile, one that I could barely notice, but it was there.

He was almost out of the room when something must've popped in his head because he turned back around to say one last thing.

"Tell Adams when you can leave the hospital wing, cause we need to call together the agents for a conference to talk through what happened."

"Sure, will do." I nodded and with that I was left alone with my thoughts.

I grew embarrassed rather quickly of what happened.
