She didn't exactly know what to feel. She had known from the very beginning that he would be leaving the country soon. She had been prepared for this moment throughout.
Yet something felt weird on that particular day.
Something she couldn't lay her finger on.
Trying hard not to ponder on the inevitable, she went about her daily routine and chores, hoping to feel distracted, but sadly, that too didn't help.
The nagging thought of how things were going to change kept on dominating her mind until she heard the buzz of her phone, and somehow she knew it was him, saying his last goodbyes. A message short and sweet.
A message that meant he was moving on in life.
A message that meant it was going to be a new beginning for him.
"Hope you achieve your dreams." He had messaged. That very line stung more deeply than the rest of the final words.
Her dreams.
Her dreams of achieving so much and making a distinct place for herself in the world. The very dreams that once motivated her to push hard. The very dreams that made her enter the best university in the country.
Those dreams now seem pointless.
Those dreams now seem far away.
For something had changed within this single year. She wasn't the same as before.
Those dreams she dreamt of as a kid, the dream of reaching heights, it hasn't left her yet, but it certainly had lost its fire.
And she knew just why.
The only one she wished to share this dream with was going away, not just from the country but also from her life.
