Loki sighed as he lay back on the soft grass of the palace gardens and stared up at the stars. His father had not yet forgiven him for what happened on Midgard but Thor had and that was what mattered most to Loki. His brother meant the world to him and Thor being mad at him was enough to shatter his heart. A soft thump was enough to tell Loki that Thor had flopped down on the grass beside him. It was very peaceful, lying in the dark staring at the stars.

"Thor," Loki said, "Do you remeber when we were mere children and you taught me how to read the stars and the nine realms?"

"Yes." Thor replied, "Jotunheim, Vanaheim, Alfeim." Thor pointed to each one as he said its name. "Nifleheim, Muspleheim, Helheim, svartalfheim, Midgard."

"And Azgard," Loki finished. He paused, "Do you ever miss it?"

"Miss what, brother?" Thor asked.

"The old days, when we were children, young, free, without a care in the world. When you used to look out for me, when Father loved me."

"Why would I miss it. Those days never left. Father still loves you, he just can't show it right. We are still children, we are still free and I will always look out for you, for you will always be Loki, my baby brother, God of mischief, who can't tell left from right and can't look out for himself."

Loki smiled half heartedly at Thor who got up off the grass and offered a hand to his brother who took it and heaved himself up.

"Come," Thor said, throwing an arm around Loki's shoulder, "let us go back to the palace." he began to lead Loki away when an explosion by the gate sent them both sprinting towards the source.

"Jotuns!" Loki cried, "and a lot of them!"

The two brothers prepared to fight, Thor summoned Mjölnir while Loki snatched up his septer and helmet. They hurried towards the battle that was already in full swing and as they got closer Loki's skin turned progressively more blue and his eyes more red, revealing the frost giant form he was born in.

They reached the battle to realise the Azgardian army was massively outnumbered. Loki looked at Thor who gave him a reassuring smile as he hurried of into the thick of the fighting.

Loki began taking down Jotuns left, right and centre. He had no idea how they got into Azgard, he just knew it was his job to get them out. If there was ever a way to gain back Odin's love, this was it. He spun his septer and smashed it into the ground, knocking back twenty Jotuns at least. The Azgardians were starting to get the upper hand and there were only a few stragglers left.

"Loki!" Thor cried, "To your left!" Loki whipped round but nothing was there "You're other left idiot!" Loki turned the other way just in time to see a frost giant running at him, ice already forming on his hand. Loki grinned mischievously and waited till the last second before clicking his fingers and stabbing the frost giant with his septer.

"See, I do look out for you." Thor said, panting heavily as he came over to Loki and ruffled his hair. Loki smirked and opened his mouth to say something when a frost giant came out of nowhere and pinned Loki against the wall, choking him.

"Loki," the frost giant growled, "We meet at last. I am Luficer, son of Laufey and you are my brother. Return with me to Jotunheim and you can be king, take down these petty Azgardians and rule the nine realms. Come Laufeyson."

"Loki, no!" Thor cried.

"Your offer is much appreciated but I have to decline," Loki said calmly, "for I am no frost giant, I am no Laufeyson and least of all am I your brother!" He shouted out and kicked Luficer away.

"Brother, catch!" Thor shouted and threw Mjölnir towards Loki.

"Are you mad!" Loki shouted back, "I can't!"

"Yes you can! You are Loki, son of Odin and I, your brother, believe you can!"

Loki watched as the hammer came closer to him. He squeezed his eyes shut and held out his hand. He felt a sudden weight and opened his eyes a crack. There, in his hand, was Mjölnir. Loki turned and grinned at Luficer before swinging the hammer and knocking him dead.
