Chapter 15: The Recovery Process, The Fair, and Going Home

"They seemed nice," Max said after Jake, Danae, and Austin left.

"They are. Jake is the total sweetheart," I added.

"I wouldn't necessarily call him a TOTAL sweetheart. Remember back in high school?" Luke asked.

"Ok, first, he didn't want to break your heart. He wanted to let you down as easy as he could. Second, He didn't want to ruin the friendship you two had and that was more important to him," I snapped.

"I didn't know you went out with Jake, Luke," Chase said.

"We dated for about a month. He decided he were better off as friends and I moved on from there."

Chase hugs Luke tightly. "Well, it isn't all bad. You have me at least, and I do love you," he said as he kissed Luke's cheek.

"Yeah, that's true. I love you too. Now how about you give me a real kiss," Luke answered. Those two kissed for about 30 seconds.

"There, like that?" Chase asked with a laugh in his voice, panting.

Luke nodded.

"You two," Max laughed, shaking his head.

"Aww, leave them be. It's adorable," Andrew said.

I like this kid. I may not know him, but I like him.

"I gotta agree with your boyfriend there, Max. I may be straight, but damn it that was the most adorable thing I've seen," Simba said.

"You're such a hopeless romantic," I laughed.

"What? Romantic events intrigue me. Is that so wrong?"

"No, but I still find it amusing."

"You aren't the only one there, Simba," Luke said, "I love romantic things."

"Note added," Chase said.

"What? Now are you gonna take him somewhere romantic?" I asked.

"Either that or just have a romantic night, just the two of us," Chase said.

"Who knew you were such the Romeo?" Max asked.

"Shit happens?" Chase shrugged.

"Maybe I love when he acts like Romeo," Luke said in his defense.

"Hey, I don't have a problem with it, just that I'm not used to seeing that side of him."

"You know I never went out with anyone in high school."

"Yeah. you claimed you were 'too busy with homework,'" Max laughed.

"Meanwhile you always managed to hook up with some girl."

"Andrew, how did you manage to get someone like him to like you?" Luke asked.

"That is a very good question," he replied.

"He made me realize that maybe I don't always need a girl to keep me happy. All I need is someone to care for me, and Andrew does care for me. I couldn't help but return the feelings."

"Aww. That's sweet," I said.

"He is a cute German Shepherd after all. I couldn't help but attach myself to him," Andrew said.

"We already know the story on why Chase decided to go out with Luke," Simba said.

"Because he loves me," Luke giggled.
