Elira: seventeen years old : spring break
Honestly for late spring, it was too cold for that damn car show. When I checked the weather for that day it said it was going to be decently warm and I dressed for the occasion. I was freezing my ass off while trying to tune Anita's guitar.
"And this is why you don't trust the weather app." I look toward Kenny who was snickering with a playful grin on his face.
I deadpanned at his comment and shot a clap back at him, causing him to put his hands up in a playful way to indicate he was joking.
"Anyway it doesn't really matter, by the time we get on stage it's gonna get hot like crazy."
I nodded and shrugged at the same time, hoping to god that I don't pop a string while tuning; Anita forgot to buy spares so I had to be extra careful.
"Babe, can you hand me my guitar? I need to see if I got it right." I called out to my girlfriend who was leaning on the wall scrolling through her phone.
"Yeah of course!"
Anita grabbed my guitar by the neck and made her way towards me. After comparing and adjusting the strings on her guitar I played a few chords to see how it sounded.
"And I think it's done!" Anita's eyes would smile along with her lips, and she gave me a little peck on my cheek.
"Thank you Eli! You're simply the sweetest!"
"Anything for you dear, but I still don't understand how your younger brother manages to mess up your guitar even after you hide it from him." We laughed a little and connected our straps to our respective guitars.
"It's my mom! My brother keeps telling her that he wants to play with it and she makes me take it out to make him shut up," she groaned while I patted her back and laughed. "Still, I don't hate him for it. He's still my little brother."
This is what I love about Anita. She always sees the bright side of things and never fails to give kindness to the people around her. Compared to my life at home, she makes life worth living and I'd dedicate my whole life to make her happy and keep that spark in her eyes.
"C'mon ladies, the car show is about the start and Valentine texted that we still need to do sound check."
I smiled and rolled my eyes. Intertwining Anita's fingers with mine, we headed out for the stage.
