"Thank you, João for joining me on this trip, it really meant a lot" Eloise told João as they got out of the car

"I enjoyed it so thank you" he said with a smile before kissing her cheek softly

"Come in, you need  a cup of coffee" she offered with a pointed look and he chuckled taking her bag from her hand as they walked towards the building. She knew he liked her and she did too but something was holding her back or maybe a someone

"Wait, let me get the mail" she said opening the mail box to see a big envelope making her frown, she took it out and they both walked to the elevator. When they got inside, she started to open the envelope as João was rubbing her arm gently

Eloise's face paled when she saw what was inside, it was some candid pictures of her. She looked up meeting João eyes who was just as horrified as she was.

"Does it have a note?" João asked as they got out of the elevator, she was too shocked to even answer him. She opened her apartment getting inside frantically closing the door behind them

She felt nauseous as she looked through the pictures, the last two ones, they were pictures of her and Mason outside the club when they were fighting. She turned the pictures around to see if there was any note.

There was. The picture of her when Mason grabbing her arm when she was about to leave. The note said "I will ruin you both"

"We need to call the police" João stated with a firm look as he pulled out his phone and Eloise grabbed his wrist stopping him

"We need to call Mason first" she said putting down the pictures, he frowned deeply before nodding slowly "Maybe he knows something"

Eloise pulled out her phone from her bag and called Mason, at the third ring he picked up "Eloise, hi!" He greeted with a relieved sigh

"Mason" her voice shook and that was enough to alarm him

"Where are you?" He didn't bother with questions like 'are you okay?'. Obviously she wasn't

"I'm home, you might want to come" she said staring down at the pictures with a disgusted look

"I'll be there in ten" he told her before hanging up, Mason's house wasn't that far from hers so she did believe him when he said he'd be there shortly

"It's gonna be okay" João assured her with a small smile and she nodded slowly wanting to believe him

And exactly after ten minutes, Mason was knocking on her door and João opened the door making the former look taken back for a moment. Why was he there with her alone in the house and it was until he saw her travel bag then he sighed in relief

"Ellie" Mason called making his way towards her as she stood up, he wrapped his arms around her tightly as she hugged him back. João looked around awkwardly feeling like he was third wheeling them

"What is it?" He questioned in concern and she looked down at the table as he followed her gaze making him pale when he realized they were candid pictures of them

"She thinks you might know something" João suggested drawing back attention to him "There's note behind"

"There is?" He asked looking back at Eloise who sighed and picked up the photo who had the note behind "Fuck, fuck!"

"Do you know something?" Eloise asked curiously and he sighed in defeat

"I do but first we need to go to the police station" he said sternly picking up the pictures from the table "João, you should go home"

"Thank you João for dropping me off" Eloise smiled gratefully at him and he nodded with a small smile. João knew something was going on between the two, some unspoken truth and feelings even when they didn't admit it themselves
