Chapter sixty-seven

Start from the beginning

After about an hour she was rolled back into her original hospital room, where she greeted Max, Jos and my mother. She got to hold the babies again and I just loved watching those three together, I could see how much love she already had for them and it melted my heart. We all four talked for a little while, until they decided to drive home and let us be alone. It had been really nice having them here these past hours when everything seemed very dark. God I love my family.

Olivia's pov:

Three whole days went by in the hospital. I was originally going home yesterday but then something was wrong with my vitals so they needed me for an extra day, but finally I got the green light to go home, and I was so excited! - I had been walking around a bit, it still hurts a bit from the surgeries but it wasn't something I couldn't handle. - "Do we have everything now?" I asked as we had everything packed up, and ready to go. "I think we do, ready to go home?" Charles asked and smiled. "Oh yeah, I never thought the day would come" I laughed.. We said goodbye and thanked the doctors for taking such good care of us while being here, and then we walked down to the car. I held the bags since they weren't so heavy, and then Charles held both Matheo and Elena in their little car seats.

After a short drive we had finally arrived back home in our apartment, it had felt like ages since we were here last. It felt so weird walking in here with our kids, but I loved it! "Welcome home Matheo and Elena, this is your home" I said and lifted Matheo up whilst Charles lifted Elena up from the car seats. "This is you and your brother when you were inside mommy's tummy! and that is your grandfather, he would have loved you two" Charles said and pointed at the ultrasound pictures on the fridge, as well as a picture of his dad and Charles that we also have on it, I love that picture so much. We showed them around the entire apartment, well aware that they didn't understand anything we said or showed them, but we felt like they needed the full tour of their house as well.. "Oh and this is your father's room, he spends many hours in here, hopefully one or both of you will be as good at driving this thing as him one day!" I said and showed them Charles's sim. "No you won't, because your father will make sure you won't be interested in f1" he laughed and looked at me. "Yeah sure, you tell yourself that babe.. They'll be surrounded by drivers all the time plus attend your races. Of course they will fall in love with it, no doubt" I laughed, I loved teasing him with this, because of how much he doesn't want this for them in the future.

Today just flew by, we had some visitors who came over to see the babies, and everyone was just in love with them. Then Charles cooked something delicious for dinner, it was amazing eating something again that wasn't hospital food!

We walked outside on our balcony, I was holding Elena and Charles was holding Matheo, we enjoyed the amazing weather. We look out on the beautiful city with the prettiest sunset I've seen. "Don't you think we should announce that they're born?" I asked, looking down on Elena who was sleeping, while Matheo was still awake in Charles arms. "I think that's a great idea," Charles smiled. So that's what we did, we found a picture that we took earlier today. And then I wrote a caption to it..

I was very excited to post it, to announce that our little miracles were born, and to see everyone's reaction. If I know our followers right they will go nuts. "Ready?" I asked and he nodded. I then pushed the post button and now it was out, people knew about our kids and it made me really happy!. - Just a few minutes after likes and comments were storming in. Everyone loved their names and said they were really cute, which made me so happy and thankful for all our wonderful followers.

Only about an hour later it was also on different news accounts on Facebook, and it was actually crazy!

Today the twins are already one whole week old. We have found a perfect routine with two newborns, and I love it. They are very easy, which probably helps a lot. There's only a few days left until Charles has to leave the twins and I, because then his summer break is officially over and the season starts again. It'll be hard not having him around to help, but I know Pascale and Lorenzo are just around the corner and always ready to help me if I need it.

Charles had just returned home after his workout, he's back to full time working out. So a few hours a day I'm having the twins alone, but I don't mind. "Is Elena sleeping?" He asked as he walked up to me whilst I was feeding Matheo. "Yup, she just fell asleep over there" I smiled and pointed to the little baby nest she was laying in. - "ah okay then" he smiled and then took a look at her, she looked so peaceful. - "Babe, can you take them for a few hours later?" I asked. "Yes of course, do you have plans?" He asked and sat next to me. "I have plans with your mom. She offered to fix my hair a bit, and then we would have lunch together" I smiled. "That sounds like a perfect idea. You should do it, I'll take care of these two".. "thanks babe" I answered and gave him a little kiss.

After about two hours I had gotten ready, like really gotten ready for the first time in a week! It felt really great wearing something other than baggy clothes and having messy hair 24/7. - I said goodbye to Matheo, Elena and Charles and then I left. I took the car and drove towards Pascale's salon. It felt really weird driving again, I haven't driven a car in a few months, since I had Charles to drive me and I didn't like driving myself around in the last few weeks of the pregnancy because I wasn't feeling that great. - But I'm back, and it was actually nice driving around alone, I listened to music on my way and I really enjoyed having some me time.

I arrived at the salon and greeted the sweetest mother-in-law anyone could dream of. "You're looking absolutely stunning, sweetie" she said as we had just greeted each other. "I do not, I still look a bit pregnant and I don't feel pretty at all" I laughed. "It's normal, it's only been a week.. if I didn't know you I wouldn't have thought you just had twins, when I had given birth to Lorenzo I look worse after only one week" she laughed. "I'm sure you looked perfect.. but really we shouldn't complain, because we got the best gifts in the whole world. And I would rather go around several weeks after and still look a few weeks pregnant than not having my babies" I smiled and sat down in the chair

. "I couldn't agree more! Charles and his brothers are my little babies no matter how old they get, and they're my biggest gift! Okay I will not lie, Matheo and Elena are probably also one of my biggest gifts in life, it's special becoming a mom but even more special to become a grandma, I didn't believe it when people said that" she said and started to brush my hair. "You raised three fantastic boys Pascale, you should be proud. And I'm so happy Matheo and Elena have you as their grandma, they're very lucky" I smiled and so did she. "Thank you Olivia, you're too sweet" she answered..

She freshened up my hair, it has gotten so boring and dry throughout the pregnancy. So it was wonderful having it freshened up, what she did was perfect. And my hair felt so soft and healthy again, I loved it! Now I'm one step closer to being back to my normal self, yay!

After she had done my hair, we went to a cute cafe next to the water. We ordered some lunch, and then we just talked for a while. We talked about the babies, the wedding, the season starting up again soon and how she and Lorenzo can help while Charles isn't home. I'm so thankful for my mother-in-law, I feel like I've known her for decades, and she even feels more motherly than my own terrible mother.. I still haven't said to her that I've become a mother, and I still have no intention of telling her..
