Chapter 28

Zhan stayed 2 more days in the hospital. The doctor said he fainted from dehydration, and so he needed to be kept under observation for 3 days.

I stayed with him the whole time. I only left to go shower and change and came back. I made sure we ate well and rested well.

I also felt the more I looked after him, the stronger I felt. I just didn't know what was gonna happen when it was time to go home.

After the second day of Zhan being in hospital, his mom brought all his stuff to me.

"When the doctor gives him an all-clear, please take him with you. His father is still very much undecided about the two of you. I think he needs time to see that you can really take good care of our son. I believe the more he sees the love between the two of you, the more he will come around. I have already explained to Zhan that he shouldn't be too sad about his father's feelings but rather focus on proving that what you two have is solid."

"Thank you, Mrs Xiao. I will do my best."

I haven't seen her since that conversation, and today, Zhan is leaving the hospital.

He was a bit sad that not even once did his father come to visit him. I know he is very attached to his family, and because of that, he probably is hurting. His father is doing what I thought my parents would do, so all this is really unexpected to us.

"You ready to go, Zhan?"

"Yeah, I am as ready as I will ever be. This place is for the sick, as much as I am thankful for all they do, I am ready to get out of here."

"OK, let go then."

We walked in silence to the car, and when we got inside the car, I could see Zhan had something to say.

"Hey, are you still sad about the whole situation with your dad?"

"Yes, but this is not about that. Why did you not come to my house this whole time? What if things didn't go this way? How were you going to prove to my dad that you were willing to fight for us?"

"How was I supposed to come to your house when I didn't know where you lived? I almost went to jail because Xian convinced me to break into the administration office so that I could steal your student file to find out where you stay. If it wasn't for Yubin's quick thinking and distracted the security guard, i would have been caught and sent to jail."

"But I gave you the address before I left that day."

"When did you give me the address. How could I have missed that, Zhan?"

He kept quiet for a while and then looked up with a look of guilt.

"I wrote it on a piece of paper and put it in your pocket when you gave me a hug."

I tried to think of what he was talking about.

"Zhan, you could have said something about that, I stayed in those clothes until my brother could handle what he called the 'smell of death', he practically stripped me and threw me in the bathtub. I think he threw the clothes out because he said he didn't believe they could be washed. I didn't know you put anything in my pockets. You should have said something. The worst thing was when I tried to call you and the phone rang in the house, i lost all hope."

"Oh, I see. I was hoping you would find the address and run to my rescue."

We both burst out laughing, and it felt good to finally let the pain go. It's has been 10 days of hell.

"Look at you acting like this is the movies. I didn't have a script to tell me to look in my pockets. I am just happy that even without the script, we still found each other."
