Trapped Inside An Adult's Skin

"Little me, in my little body,
Felt just like yesterday
Then, in the blink of an eye,
All seemed to fade away.

No more excuses, no more
Comfort, never shy.
Feeling down? Well suck it up,
'Cause grown ups never cry!

But aren't we all so tired?
So tired of pretending?
This world, so artificial,
Plastic smiles, never ending

Just a lot of too-big bodies
Trapping little us within
Leaving a world full of children
Lost Inside their grown-up skin

Begging tirelessly Inside
Yet, seemingly silent are our tears
Our cries are just too tiny
To ever reach those grown-up ears

Little me 's been hiding
I've got lost within the crowds
They told me to follow the stars
But all I see are clouds!

Everyone was drowning once
Yet passed on their broken boat
Pushed me in the deep end
[Then] Asked why I didn't float?

So here I am, in this big, big world
Knowing I can never win,
'Cause I'll always be a child
Trapped within an adult's skin."
