"I think that might have been your best Snow Queen yet," Amaury announced as he set a plate of pasta down in front of her.
"Really?"
"Definitely!" He grinned.
Bela rolled her eyes, "you're just saying that to make me feel better that I slipped in the snow and fell."
Amaury laughed and sat down next to her at the breakfast bar, "that's why it was your best performance yet."
Bela's jaw dropped as he continued to laugh. She slapped his arm, "OI!"
"Oh come on, Bela. That was a good wipe out."
"Amaury!"
"What?" He grinned.
"I have never fallen on stage before, and then I go and do it during my snow solo," she groaned.
"Is your hand okay?"
"Yeah," she looked down at the bandages.
When Bela fell, she had cut her hand open on a piece of the set. They had to quickly get it to stop bleeding and wrap it up before her dance with Yannick. They had to adjust some of their hand holds for Bela's comfort and so that the blood wouldn't get on their white costumes.
"Are you sure it's okay?"
"Yeah. I'm just annoyed," she sighed.
"At least you didn't need stitches," he squeezed her shoulder.
"True. What are you doing for Christmas?" Bela changed the subject.
"Probably just hanging out in my apartment."
"Really? You're not going to see your parents?"
"No because they're going to Fiji."
"Oh wow. That sounds warm and tropical."
"I know right."
Amaury was smiling, but Bela could see the hurt in his eyes. It would be the first Christmas he spent without Fiona and without any of his family. Bela bit her lip.
"Do you want to come to Brazil with me?"
"Hm?"
"For Christmas? You can come celebrate with my family."
"Bela, are you sure?"
"Positive. I have plenty of room in my house for you to stay. Plus my family loves you."
"If you don't mind, then yes, I would really love that. Thank you for the invite," he smiled and kissed her cheek.
