The littlest of Joys (Cookie Run kingdom x reader)

Chapter 36: A bad smell

"OH COME ON!" Hollyberry shouted, tossing her heart shaped shield in frustration. But this moment was quickly washed away when Custard Cream once again ran over to hug (Y/N) as tightly as his little arms could.

All the other cookies watched the joyous reunion in awe and joy. They also watched as Tighnari who was still in his kitsune form, barreled over to his owner who was still hugging Custard Cream lll.

Once (Y/N) felt the sudden change in light, they looked up see their pet.

"Wait, Tighnari!" They screamed but it was too late. Tighnari had lunged forward, knocking the two cookies off their feet and onto the ground.

Tighnari laughed with joy as he licked (Y/N)'s face. (Y/N) couldn't help but laugh at the giant foxes affection.

They then gently pushed the fox off the pair, "Okay, that's enough. I'm okay buddy, and I missed you too."

Tighnari yelped once more before turning into his smaller form and further snuggling (Y/N).

Pure Vanilla cookie made his way towards the three. The other hero's followed, also happy to see (Y/N) once again okay. Well Hollyberry  stilll wore her frustrated expression but she was still relieved. " I am glad you are okay my friend. Though I must apologize since we once again failed to help you in your times of need." Pure Vanilla cookie frowned, making (Y/N) panic. Seeing a frown fall on the hero's face broke (Y/N)'s heart.

"No please don't worry about it!" (Y/N) said waving their hands frantically, "I know you guys are leader and I know that you guys have a lot of pressure on your shoulders with me being here. But you still were gonna go out and fight for me. It's just I got out before you actually executed your plan."

All the hero's expressions turned up a little at the comforting words, "Thank you." Dark Cacao said, "Though I wonder how you got away this time, without the help of Tighnari this time?"

In their sudden reunion with two of their best friends, (Y/N) had almost forgot about the cookie who truly saved them. "It was actually Poison Mushroom cookie."

"What!!!!" Strawberry cookie, Wizard cookie and  Pure Vanilla cookie were especially surprised, especially after everything the child did to the three.

From him poisoning the punch that made Strawberry cookie and Wizard cookie attack their own friends. To Pure Vanilla cookie being forced to see his friends tied up and strung up like puppets.

"A-Are you sure it was Poison Mushroom cookie?" Strawberry asked.

"Huh?"

"Are you sure you weren't put under some spell to make you believe it was him. Poison Mushroom cookie can make anything seem believable with his magic." She said, getting more nervous at the upset look that was forming on (Y/N)'s face.

"I have to agree, (Y/N)." Pure Vanilla cookie said, "That child gives others the ability to see... unsavory sights. But either way he can show people things. Maybe this was a part of Dark Enchantress cookies plan."

(Y/N) grew further upset at the legendary hero's words, they held on to Tighnari as little tighter. Mostly out of frustration.

"I know what I saw. He did help me." (Y/N) mumbled. It's not like they wanted to make this scene and openly defy one of the legendary hero's But (Y/N) knew what they had seen and they knew the friendship they made with Poison mushroom was real.

Tighnari whimpered at his friends sudden change in behavior. As he further place head under (Y/N) chin, Tighnari sniffed something a little odd.

It smells bad. But I can't tell what it is.

His nose followed the scent until they landed on one of (Y/N)'s hands. You wouldn't be able to see it from far away but thankfully Tighnari was closer than anyone around the two. So he could see the smallest spike similar to the ones in their hair begun to form on (Y/N)'s body itself. This was definitely odd seeing as how the spikes that (Y/N) had appeared no where but their hair. Maybe this was simply a reaction from how seemingly upset (Y/N) was.

The tension hung tightly in the air. Nobody dared to break the sudden silence. Until a loud explosion rang through the air. Everyone was at first horrified until a mischievous laughter rang through the air.

"What's with the sad faces," Cherry bomb cookie shouted before shooting off another explosion that soon formed a ray of colors. It was fireworks.

Cherry blossom chased after her younger sister. "Cherry bomb. It is not a good time for this. The adults are talking."

"Yeah but that's so boring and everyone looks so sad." Cherry bomb brought out another explosive, "So why not have fun and be happy."

Cherry bomb ran towards (Y/N), "I haven't talked to you much. But you saved me and everyone else when we were taken by the witches."

"And I realized that you never had a proper celebration. So how about it!" Cherry bomb smiled innocently. Unaware of the very serious conversation that had taken place moments prior.

Hollyberry sighed, "I agree with the child." Both the other hero's looked in shock but Hollyberry continued, "Look we have been running around and trying to keep (Y/N) safe. Or at least attempting to. So how about for one night, no Dark Enchantress cookie, no witches and no worries. Let's just have a night of fun and thanks for (Y/N). For not only saving us, but making all of our lives a bit more interesting."

All the cookies around them began to speak in agreement. While (Y/N) began to blush violently but the sudden praise and attention once again.

Hollyberry couldn't help but chuckle at their reaction, "Plus it will give me a good excuse to break out the barrels of juice that are just gathering dust." Hollyberry feigned sadness while Wildberry cookie just slapped his forehead.

Pure Vanilla cookie not long after gave into his friends request, "I see... well I do agree we need a break from all the chaos. And we never actually did give a proper thanks for (Y/N). So let us host a party."

While everyone looked around in joy and excitement about the upcoming party. (Y/N) couldn't help but feel a tad bit of disappointment at the abrupt ending to the conversation. Tighnari could also smell it from his owner as well. The bad smell has not gone away. In fact it only grew stronger.
