He lays in bed, unable to move.
He can only hear the commotion around him.
Machines hum all around him.
Some of them beep,
some of them buzz.

His brain was jumbled, he wasn't sure where he was.
He couldn't do anything but think, hear, and smell.
He'd probably rather it if he couldn't smell.

He hated the smell.
It wasn't necessarily dirty smelling but it smelled too clean.
Lysol and Febreeze about sums it up. But there's hints of vomit, shit and piss.
You have to really pay attention to tell a difference.

When you find that difference, it's unsettliny gross.
But imagine what it'd smell like without all that overly clean smelling spray.

I wait for a long time, hoping something will happen.
I start to hear the nurses cleaning talk about what they heard from the doctor.

“Dr. Kinsley said the patient has a severe eating disorder.”

“Oh, that's too bad.”

“Right. He's more of the dad-bod patient, isnt he?”

The nurse pauses for a bit.

“I dunno. He's more like a twink.”

“I don't think we can say that stuff on hospital property, Sue.”

“Oh hush up. Can't you see it? Thats 100% f-”
(i am in the lgbtq+ community!!!)

“Sue. Quit it.”

Whoever Sue is probably isn't the best at her job.

“Oh, didn't you see that other guy?”

“This is a hospital. Lots of men here, Sue.”

“I mean his visitor. The ginger twi-Kid?”

“You mean the one who screamed and sobbed into that mmm... Oh! She's some famous cooking lady. You see 'em yesterday?”

“Yes.”

Sun Wukong. And Chang'e?

“It took eternities for them to stop sniffling and whining when I told them to hush it the fuck down.”

“C'mon, she might'a lost someone close to her.”

“He's not dead yet, Pat.”

“But he might as well be. We both know eating disorder folks dont recover well.”

“Thank you for being optimistic.”

“Why, you're welcome Pat.”

“Sarcasm.”

“So was I,”

That's kind of all the important information.
They bickered on and on.
But it's got to be them.
If Chang'e and Wukong are here, maybe I can make things right.

I attempt to pull my body up, using all the strength I can.

I moved a little bit, but not enough. I tried to scream but all I heard was the buzzing.
I needed to get to them.
I needed to let them know I haven't completely given up.

Mostly, I need to apologize to the ginger-haired-twink.
I tried to scream again and again.

Eventually I did it, It felt earth shattering.
Both the nurses jumped in fear, they were just dusting odds and ends when I screamed.

“Calm diwn, Sir, You're in safe hands.”

“Oh fuck, Pat! Look, kid, don't be whiney.”

“He's in PAIN, Sue!!!?”

They started to argue. It got more and more intense as the minutes went by.
I slowly relearned my body before flipping over the blankets onto the nurses and dissapearing into the shadows.

I looked around the hospital, yet no one was there.

I hurried to the market and forced down an apple before any of the nurses could gain a lead.

I very slowly approached Flower Fruit. I felt terribly sick from nervousness and just in general. I really hoped I'd get an answer. I needed one badly.
Of course, to my great luck, no one answered.

I practically crawled to my house, trying not to lose it over the locked door.
I slipped through the wall using a shadow and found Chang'e on the couch and Wukong in my bed.

“You guys awake?” It hurt to speak, my voice was harsh and dry.
Sunny popped open one eye and blinked back to sleep.
Even though I'd probably been sleeping for ages, I just got into the bed with him. I stayed as far away as I could incase.

I was unsure what he'd think to see me.
I'm not too sure how I feel.
You know?
