The Human Mate

Chapter 4

Matthews POV

As I woke up everything was silent. As I decended the stairs I saw the dinner I made last night still un- touched on the counter, meaning they didn't come home last night. I cleaned up the dishes and started to make breakfast. Since I didn't know when they would come back, I put it in the fridge so it won't go bad.

Once I finished my own breakfast and got ready I headed off for school. Great, today I'm getting more beating than normally.

When I got there I did as I always did and sat in the back, and when class started there were two new students, Josh and Ethan, they seemed nice but I knew it wouldn't last, they would ditch me like everyone does sooner or later. Through out the day I found at least one of them in all of my classes. Hm weird but it's probably a coincidence.

When lunch came, I saw Bryce coming towards me and I just stood there, frozen in fear.

"Hey Matthew, ready for your beatings?" Bryce asked smirking, nearing my frozen body. I slowly backed away.

"N-no, Bryce p-please, I had enough y-yesterday" I stuttered back

"Oh, you're right I'll leave you alone... NOT! " he says as he laughs and swiftly punches me in the face, then his friend puts me in a choke hold. I claw his arm and choke out a cry for help. Then I'm suddenly on the ground behind someone. I look up and see it is Josh standing in front of me.

" Bryce leave him alone, why are you even beating up this boy? " Josh asks angrily

" Why do you care, Josh? He is just a worthless kid" Bryce states

" You wouldn't want Roni to find out, would you? " Ethan cuts in

" Why would I care if Alph-.. Veronica finds out, he is just a stupid human" Bryce says back

They stare at each other for a while in silence, looking in deep thought. I take this as my chance and run off, I'll thank them later.

When school ended I rushed home hoping no one stops me like yesterday, I don't want another tough beating.

When I got home it was quiet just like this morning, no one was home but I. Maybe they left again? Or are asleep? I pondered as I went to go and make dinner.

Once I was done I went and sat outside to see if my wolf would return as I asked yesterday. I went and laid on a near by log and after a few minutes I fell asleep.
