Felice's POV
Kim Hae-jin from South Korea just finished her short. I'm next..
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
"On the ice, representing the USA, Felice Lelievré."
I took a deeeep breath.
Whooh.
Wow.. A lot of people are watching me..
I must not let it get through my nerves...
I'm here, as a skater.
But when the music starts, I become an artist.
I remembered coach's wisest words for me..
"When you skate, let the music take control of you, the way it does to Christine."
I love those wise words so much! I also love the story of the Phantom of the Opera..

I stopped at the center and did my starting pose.
My heartbeat was all over the place..
I locked eyes with coach and she mouthed 'Just enjoy it'.
I gave her an assuring look.
The moment the music started, the crowd became very silent.
I skated..
And skated.
Jumped a couple times.
I did some spins...
Some step sequence..
A few spirals...
And I skated..
And skated some more..
Well duh. It's not called figure skating if you don't skate, spin, do spirals, or jump.
I'm sorry... That's just me trying to keep calm because I already finished the rest of my jumps and my last one is a triple axel.. I landed the rest cleanly so I can say that I'm proud.
*insert the sound that the blades make when you takeoff for a jump*
Come on Felice... For a moment, just think of it as a normal jump that every skater encounters.. For just a moment.. Just let go..
*spinning mid-air*
Here goes....
The final obstacle..
Ice, where are you???

Gotta maintain my balance...

Yes! Yes! Yeeeeessss!!
(coach jumping for joy at the back in slow motion)
Okay, time for the final step sequence!
And the last spin!
More speed, and.. stop.
I closed my eyes as I strike my final pose.
....
It's over.. I did it.. I finished a clean short..
The crowd cheered while others threw some stuffies and flowers in the rink..
That's where I started to tear up..
I wiped my tears and faced the crowd.
After bowing, I picked up one of the blue roses and headed to coach.
"You were great out there!" She said while giving me a hug.
"Thank you, thank you very much!" I replied as I put on my guards.
Coach gave me my jacket and we went to the Kiss & Cry.
"The scores please." The host said.
I rubbed my palms together and put them on my cheeks.
Ummm.. Body heat, I guess?
"The score for Felice Lelievré from the USA is 74.64, putting her currently in first place."

"I-I'm... I... am...??" I'm trying to say something here but I suddenly became speechless..
"Yes, you're currently in first place." Coach said.
"I-I.... Me? Me!?" I said and coach frantically nodded.
I jumped for joy and hugged my coach and bowed again.
"Thank you very much! Thank you! Thank you!" I said as I waved.
Coach and I went backstage.
I can barely walk because I still can't believe it.
"I can't believe it! I really can't!" I said.
"But don't let it get through your head.. There are still a lot of other skaters.. And the free skate is tomorrow." Coach said.
"Yes coach.." I said sadly.
"I'm not trying to bring you down.. I just don't want you to be complacent and not do your best anymore.." Coach said.
"I understand, coach.." I said.
She's right.. Yuna is still there. Mao.. And that Lipnitskaya girl from Russia.. Carolina.. Gracie and Ashley..
I took a deep breath to clear my mind.

And by the waaay, somewhere between chapters 28-30, I wrote something sooooo idk as a product of watching Yuzu's performance of Vertigo on FaOI. OMG. Hip rolling.
