"Never say you're sorry."

The sound of swords clashing through the air snapped me out of it.

"Really Katherine! You must pay attention." Glorfindel, my Elf instructor shook his head.

"I'm sorry." I said, angrily admonishing myself for getting distracted.

Glorfindel sighed and shook his head again.
"Never say you're sorry, it's a sign of weakness. And you aren't weak, are you Katherine?"

I shook my head.
"No sir."
He smiled.
"Then let's get back to it."

I squinted my eyes hard as he told me the names of battle moves that he demonstrated with his sword.
"Parry, thrust, ----"

I felt my mind wander. I fought against it, but I felt myself pulled back to that horrible night....
"Katherine!!"
"Ahh!!!!"

Glorfindel glared angrily at me.
"If I am to teach you about battle, I must have your complete attention. You are obviously not ready today. You may go."

I carefully laid my weapons down and walked away quickly.
