"When did they build this?" Ochako asked in awed wonder.
As the students stared at the obstacle in amazement, Tsuyu leapt towards one of the ropes. "Just a bunch of glorified tightropes, ribbit . Easy peasy." The frog girl said with confidence.
"She's fast!" Mina complimented Tsuyu.
"Not as fast as Bakugo, Todoroki and Izu- Midoriya, though." Ochako said lamely.
Mina was about to tease her friend about Izuku when they heard a few chuckles coming from a girl behind them. Looking toward her, they saw she was decked out in support gear. "Hehehe. Time for my babies to shine!" She said, "Take a look, support companies, at my Wire Arrows and Hover Soles!"
"She must be from the Support Course!" Astute observation, Ochako.
"Wait. She's allowed to use those?" Mina said with a hint of jealousy.
"First of all, the name's Mei Hatsume, future CEO of Hatsume Industries! Second of all, you use your Quirks to get through these obstacles. Might as well let us Support Course students use support gear to keep it fair! At least, as long as we made them ourselves!" She countered, "For us, it's the greatest opportunity to showcase our craftsmanship to the industry!" She finished before firing one of her Wire Arrows towards one of the pillars.
"So feast your eyes on my babies, all you corpos out there!!" Mei yelled out as she launched off towards the pillar her Wire Arrow had connected to.
Seeing this, Ochako and Mina followed suit. "So annoying! How's that fair?!" The latter said.
"A LOTTA PEOPLE ARE WORKING HARD FOR THEIR CHANCE! RIGHT, ERASERHEAD?" Present Mic asked his co-commentator beside him.
"What are you idiots stopping for?" Eraserhead asked the students, actively ignoring Present Mic's jab at him.
"Hah! You all really gave me a bunch of anchor points to swing from!?" Hanta Sero laughed as he jumped into the pit and shot a long strand of tape to one of the pillars on his right. The tape hit its mark, and he pulled himself toward the pillar before cutting and shooting another strand of tape towards another.
Suddenly, a red tendril shot past his left side, making him look in slight alarm. "What the---!?" The tape-slinger yelped.
"OH? WHAT'S THIS!? ANOTHER STUDENT TO WATCH OUT FOR!?" Once again, Present Mic's voice rang out, piquing the crowd's curiosity. This time the Jumbotrons in the stadium focused on another General Studies student, a boy with brown-and-orange hair who dove down the pit only to swing himself back up using the tendrils shooting out of his arms. He passed by the tape-slinging Hero Course student as he repeated the process over and over. The crowd watched in growing excitement as he got to the walls along the other side, opting to just run upwards along its surface and then jumping forward from the edge.
"WELL, LADIES AND GENTS, HERE'S ANOTHER ONE TO WATCH PUT FOR! HE MAY NOT BE AS POWERFUL AS MIDORIYA, BUT DON'T WRITE LUCAS MERCER OFF JUST YET; HE MAY HAVE ANOTHER TRICK UP HIS SLEEVE!" Present Mic said, causing the crowd to go wild once more as the boy caught up with Izuku and then chased after the leaders of the pack. Unbeknownst to him, Eraserhead narrowed his eyes again at 'another showboater'.
"AND NOW, THE LEADER OF THE PACK EASILY GOT THROUGH FIRST" Present Mic announced again, as Shoto had just gotten past the Fall, and looked back at Katsuki as he ran forward. 'Looks like he's getting fired up. A slow starter?' He thought as he looked ahead.
"Fucking hell...!" Katsuki snarled, making another explosion to catch up to the lead.
