Let's dive right in!

“Mama, why did you have to come to my house naw? What if Ada and Mercy had heard you?” Mercy whined, making herself comfortable on the sofa. Mama's house was like any ordinary house. Simple, comfy yet cheap and affordable. Mam didn't even bother to reply to her; rather, she switched on the TV.

“Mama, am I not talking to you?” She demanded. She was getting pissed already, if Mama didn't have anything reasonable to say then why disturb her peace. “There was a woman that came here last night.” Mama explained, folding her arms. It seemed like the atmosphere got hotter, the fan did no justice to the heat.

Mercy fidgeted, she had an inkling of who the woman was. “Which woman? What's her name?” She questioned, acting unbothered. “She didn't mention your name but she mentioned your son.” Mama explained, sounding tired. She had let down her facade; all night she kept on thinking about what her daughter had gotten herself into again.

“My son! What did she say about Joseph? Mama tell me naw.” Mercy begged on her knees. Joseph was her life; she'd be damned if anything bad happens to him. “All she said was that she knew how to get to your son if you don't cooperate.” Mama sighed, rubbing her face. Age was telling on her; a few months and she'd be 60.

“Mama, can you describe her appearance?” Mercy urged, searching her eyes frantically. “It was late at night so I can't really remember. She called herself an Alhaja and she dressed like all these Muslim people.” Mama replied, going into a coughing fit; one of the reasons why the bag was so important to Mercy was to pay for Mama's treatment.

Mama was battling with one of the deadliest cancers; lung cancer and it was already in stage 2, she was lucky she had a chance of survival. “Omo! this one don pass me oo.” Mercy exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air. She was scared and confused, it was definitely Hakeem's wife who visited her mom.

Her phone rang; it was Bisi calling. “Babes, we can't find the bag oo.” Bisi panicked. “It should be there somewhere naw.” Mercy replied, nonchalantly. “We don check everywhere, we no see anything. Abeg, do fast come back oo.” Bisi stated, ending the call. Mama looked at Mercy skeptically.

“There's another bag, what of the one here?” Mama probed. “Mama, that's my little secret. They can't know there's another bag and that I have it.” She huffed, standing up to take her leave. “Mercy!, Mercy! How many times wey I call your name. No put me for trouble oo, I take God beg you.” Mama hollered. She paid no attention to her and shut the door.

“Hamzat what is it naw?, you know very well we're outside.” Mercy whined, looking around for any spies lurking around. It would be disastrous if Bisi and Ada found out she and Hamzat were in a secret relationship; after all it was for benefits best known to them. “I no like how you snub me this morning oo. You go dey do anyhow.” He whined, sniffing her neck. Mercy was getting irritated, she wasn't ready to warm his bed.

“I know say you wan ask me something. Oya ask, make I dey go.” She huffed, pulling up her skirt that he raised up. “What were you guys doing at the police station?” He questioned, looking into her eyes. His eyes; one of the things that attracted her to him, she considered them dreamy.

“Hakeem is dead.” She blurted. Hamzat chuckled. “You don't seem surprised Hamzat, do you have anything to do with his death?” She asked, searching his eyes for answers.

“I know who killed Hakeem.” He smirked.
