Ashes, they came from the fire, the fire that is now destroying Päyva's village, her place, her home. Since the sky people came to Pandora, anything was the same.
And the thought that everything was normal just yesterday. That was the only thing that Päyva had on her mind
When the sky people arrived, they started hunting Tulkuns on the south of the reefs
And the Village of Kanu'ektu, the Maktenalyís, the Tulkun guardians clan and Päyva's home, paid the price for it, right after the attacks started and a lot of older Tulkuns got killed.
When Payakan led the attacks against the sky people ships, a lot of young Tulkuns and young na'vis got murdered, and some of those na'vis who were Päyva's friends.
When she found out what was happening, she tried to get help from the older warriors at the village as fast as she could
But it was too late, dead Tulkuns, Na'vis that had families, who were brothers, sisters and friends to their most loved ones were now all gone. Payakan went missing, started being seen as an outcast and a killer
But it wasn't over, the chiefs of the village, Päyva's parents, and all the na'vis that lost their sons, daughters and siblings to those attacks against the sky people ship, were planning to avenge them, by attacking their base and killing all the humans there
Päyva were so concerned about her friends and dead Tulkuns, that even so she thought that this wasn't the best decision to make, she was too blind by the rage and sadness in her heart.
The clan gave all they had to defeat those Tulkun killers...
But it was a trap, the Kanu'ektu village could be one of the most respected places of the reef people, but it was one of the smallest islands
And knowing that, the sky people got all their forces and destroyed their village, setting on fire, exploding the roots connecting the huts, killing na'vis and Tulkuns that were trying to protect their home.
In the middle of that battle, Päyva's dad, Koa'ri, lost his spirit brother to one of the sky people's weapons while he tried to protect the village and the tree of souls. When he tried to defend the tree, he almost got killed, losing his right arm and getting a big scar on his right eye that almost maded him blind, besides the scars he have covering his left shoulder, arm and some on his back by one of the sky people weapons.
Hopefully, Leynea, the Tsahík of the Maktenalyí and Päyva's mom, healed the ones she could, including Päyva's dad. But even a talented and strong Tsahík as she was, couldn't handle all the damage that was made or save all the injured Na'vis herself
Hopeless, afraid and at a disadvantage, the Kanu'ektu people had nowhere to go, except for one place, that they had a strong connection and a alliance with, Awa'atlu.
All the Kanu'ektu people got all the things that lasted at their village and the dead Na'vi bodies of their loved ones so they could be honored. But with their tree of souls destroyed, the only way that they could rest with Eywa was with the Metkayína ancestors.
