Rise Of The Hunters by: Sheolle

Prologue

Miata's scream tore through the storm as if her very soul was being wrenched from her body. "Help! I don't want to die! Please, someone save me!" The words were raw, desperate, and laden with a terror that made the air itself seem to shiver.

Lightning forked across the sky, illuminating a nightmare that was far too real for comfort. She froze, her golden hair plastered to her cheeks with rain, as she watched the unimaginable unfold before her eyes: a middle-aged woman being shredded by gnawing, mutated rats. Screams echoed, mingling with the relentless roar of the tempest, and the stench of blood and iron filled the air, thick and suffocating.

Her heart pounded violently against her ribcage, an urgent percussion that refused to be ignored. Miata's wide cerulean eyes took in the hellish tableau—skyscrapers consumed by towering infernos, airplanes plummeting from the sky like dying birds, and streets littered with twisted, mangled metal and lifeless bodies. The ground beneath her feet trembled with aftershocks, a cruel reminder that even the earth itself was rebelling.

And then—a roar unlike any she had ever known tore through the air, shaking the windows around her. It was a sound that carried the weight of doom, primal and earth-shattering, and in that instant, rational thought abandoned her. Her knees trembled, betraying her body's urge to flee, yet she was rooted as if invisible tendrils had sunk into her skin, anchoring her in place.

Before her loomed a monster that's looks like a Tyrannosaurus Rex, monstrous and regal, its eyes glowing with a terrifying intelligence. Its roar split the air again, and Miata's mind screamed with a single, frantic thought: I don't want to die.

The world erupted in chaos. Mutated beasts scattered, humans shoved and panicked, trying to escape. Miata could only stare, frozen, each second stretching into an eternity as the colossal predator lunged toward her.

"NOOOOOOO!" Her scream was swallowed by the cacophony...

BOOOINK!

Her body jerked awake. Pain shot across her forehead as the blackboard eraser struck with precise anger.

"Miss Neuschwanstein! I've had enough of you always sleeping in my class!" Mister Mendoza's voice thundered, a real-world echo of her nightmare.

Miata touched her head, blinking rapidly, disoriented. The dream still clung to her, sticky and suffocating, making reality feel hollow and fragile. Around her, the classroom buzzed with whispers, half-mocking, half-concerned. She was a vision of golden hair and cerulean eyes, her beauty undeniable, yet it offered no protection from the disappointment radiating from her teacher—or from herself.

The room seemed to shrink as her classmates' murmurings painted her in shades of failure. Disappointment. Loser. Lazy. Each word felt like a physical blow. She had always been the exemplar, the model student—the one everyone expected to succeed—but now... she was unmoored.

A soft, hoarse voice cut through the din. "Idiot."

Miata's gaze lifted to see Ezekiel, rough-edged and infuriatingly composed, leaning against his desk. He had always been a thorn in her side, yet there was a magnetic pull to his presence that infuriated her further.

Since the first day of her freshman year in highscholl and up to now in her second year in college in the university, Kiel has been a consistent bugger in her life. He kept on annoying her through the years.

Miata perched one of her eyebrows as she rolled her eyes. She then looked at her three bestfriends.

Agatha - a sweet petite girl that has a bob cut hair and has a sweet honeylike voice.
