Chapter 2

Vanessa Costello's POV:

Moving into a new city with a new start. I'm so excited! Columbus, Ohio; it was a lot colder here than I had expected. Then again, I did move here from Louisiana. I walked into the elevator after getting ready for work. I applied for a job at a local record store online, and I got the job. This was the only record store that really existed nowadays, which really sucked. What ever happened t- going out and buying vinyls and having a record player? Everything is digital now. I hummed to myself and was about to close the door, when I heard a male voice shout.

"Hold the elevator, please!"

I put my hand in front of the door and looked down the hallway, seeing a young male running towards the elevator. I giggled and stepped aside, letting him get in. "Thank you," the boy said, out of breath. I laughed softly and looked at him as the doors closed. "In a hurry somewhere?" I asked, causing a crooked smile to appear on his face. "Yeah. I woke up late, so I'm late for work," he chuckled softly. "Well, I hope it's not your first day on the job."

"Oh, no, it's not," he laughed quietly, looking over at me. "I've had this job for awhile, but I've never really been late.

I giggled softly, causing him to smile more. "I never caught your name," he looked at me. "I, uh, never told you it. It's Vanessa. Vanessa Costello," I smiled softly. "I've never seen you around here, before, Vanessa. Wait.. are you the new girl my sister mentioned?" he asked, his smile growing wide. I laughed. "Maybe. Is your sister short and blonde?" I asked and he nodded. "Yeah! I didn't get to introduce myself, because I was away, so you met my family instead," he grinned.

"I'm Tyler Joseph. Your awkward and musical neighbor," he held out his hand for me to shake. I smiled and shook his hand as the doors of the elevator opened. We walked out of the apartment complex and said our goodbyes as we walked separate ways. I took out my phone and put my headphones in, putting my music on and walking to the record store.

After about ten minutes, I got to the store about ten minutes before I was supposed to. I looked around and pulled my headphones out. "Hello?" I called out, walking further into the store. No more than three seconds later, I felt someone grab my shoulders and shout "BOO!!". I screamed and jumped forward, turning around and seeing a person wearing a skeleton hoodie. He laughed and unzipped the hood from his face, looking at me. "I'm so sorry."

The boy looked around my age, bright pink hair, comforting brown eyes. "My name's Josh Dun. You must be Vanessa, am I right?" Josh asked, showing of a pearly-white smile. I nodded, still clutching my chest. "You scared the crap out of me!" I looked at him, laughing softly. He laughed. " I'm sorry. I didn't think I'd scare you that bad," he giggled. I smiled. "Well, welcome to the record store. This job is really painless and simple, I promise, Vanessa," Josh beamed.

"Please, call me Nessa. It's less syllables," I said with a smile as I set my bag on the counter.

"Nessa it is, then," he grinned.

"Let's open up shop, shall we?"

I walked to the front door with him and pushed the gates away from the windows and clicked on all of the signs for him. This store was so old-fashioned. I love it. I'm definitely going to love working here.
