"yeah, come on princess! yay!"
dream watches as george lifts his daughter off the floor with a cheer, blowing a raspberry against her belly and earning himself a sweet giggle from the little brunette. he can't help but smile fondly at the scene.
george puts her back down again, turning her to face dream once more, and leans down to whisper, "i know you don't wanna go back to stinky but you can walk straight back here again after, okay?"
obviously, she doesn't reply, but dream offers george an eye roll as he holds his arms out, making grabby hands and encouraging the baby. she smiles at him and dream smiles back. he tries to hold back his excitement as she waddles over to him but he can't help it.
he picks her up much like george did, bouncing her in his arms and eliciting more clueless laughter. he pressed kisses to both of her cheeks before putting her down once more. unlike george, dream kept rosie facing him as he said, "i'm sorry that you have to go back to daddy. you'd much rather stay with me, huh?"
she coos unintelligibly, reaching her hand up and grabbing mindlessly at dream's chin. he doesn't fight it, simply scrunching up his face.
after a moment he pretends he's going to eat her hand, leaning down and making a munching noise, and rosie pulls away with more bright giggles. dream laughs too.
he turns the baby around to face george again and looks up to see the brit smiling fondly back. he looks like he'd give up the world to freeze this moment and the thought alone is enough to make dream smile back at the brunette.
arguably too long passes of the boys just staring contently before george breaks the eye contact and clears his throat. he holds his arms out, calling rosie over to him and ignoring the previous atmosphere.
dream guides her for the first few steps before letting go and watching her walk shakily over. she falls no more than a few inches away from george, and the brunette swoops her back onto her feet before she even hits the floor.
"oh, you are so good," george praises, leaning down to press a kiss into her hair. he looks back at dream, glancing off awkwardly when they make eye contact again, and says, "we should probably get started on lunch."
dream nods in agreement, picking himself up off the floor. he takes rosie from george as the brit stands up, taking the baby through to the kitchen and sliding her carefully into her high chair.
george takes over then, securing her in and getting her a rattle to occupy herself with whilst dream goes about finding food for lunch. they had a big breakfast and they were planning on ordering food for dinner, so dream figured they'd be well-fed enough with sandwiches and chips, and maybe something extra like jello or applesauce for their little baby.
he glances behind himself to see george sitting on the kitchen counter just staring off aimlessly at nothing. for some reason, that sight makes him smile- he doesn't know why, maybe it's because george looks so content, or maybe it's just because it's george.
he looks back at the counter, getting out eight slices of bread before deciding that he and rosie could share half-and-half and putting two of them away again.
