CHAPTER 2

(Bunnymund's POV)

Her eyes followed dozens of the small eggs that walked on tiny, toothpick legs. Her (_eye color_) eyes were big and full of curiosity. She slowly got on her feet. "Can I call you Bunny," she smiled.

"Yeah, it's better than kangaroo. I have work to do." I hopped off hoping I could trust her for now. Something told me I could, but the small pain on my side seemed to annoy me.

(Reader's POV)

My (_eye color_) eyes scanned the many tunnels, eggs, and butterflies. A warm, fresh breeze blew, carrying fresh paint and dirt with it. Dozens of eggs bloomed from flowers and marched off to some place. I ran to a vibrant, glowing flower and watched it bloom an egg.

The egg seemed to look at me. It tilted to one side and then walked away, following the other eggs to wherever they were going.

I followed the egg into a dim, sunlit tunnel. There were various types of eggs that were displayed in some of the holes on the side of the tunnels. Radiant eggs, tiny eggs, spotted eggs, eggs of all shapes and sizes. Some of the eggs had labels, but I was walking too fast by to see the writing. I marvled as more of the eggs with legs walked through the tunnel with me.

I heard a loud, hearty laugh coming from one of the tunnels up ahead. I followed it and could faintly hear Bunny's voice beneath the laugh.

"I don't have much time to spare, but tell me, North, how's the pole been? Jack giving you a hard time?" He painted an egg as he was chatting away.

I remained hidden behind the wall of the entrance.

"Actually, he's been helping. He gives the Yeti's ideas and even tests the toys out." He let out a hearty laugh again. "So, friend, tell me about what you called me here for."

"There's a girl here that's over the age of a child. For some reason she can see me, and she probably won't forget easily. And I can't use the dream lie on her! What am I supposed to do?"

"A girl older than a child? Bunny, you don't think..."

There was a moment of silence.

"No. It's not the same as that time." Bunny sighed. "She was different. She was nothin' like the adolescents of these times."

"We know nothing for now, Bunny. For now, keep her close."

"What?! Why?!"

"Do you really think she could forget what she just heard?" North pointed straight at me.

I froze, and so did Bunny when he saw me. He sighed as North laughed. North left through his portal.

Bunny walked toward me with his arms crossed. "What do you like to eat?"

"What?" Just then my stomach growled. "Oh."

"Here." He handed me a piece of chocolate.

When I ate it, a smile appeared on my face.

Bunny showed approval. "Delicious isn't it?"

I nodded.

"Made it myself. And you can bet it's better than any chocolate a human would ever make." He winked. "Since you're gonna be here a while, you should help me paint eggs. Come on." He handed me a giant brushed and hoisted me onto his back.

I stroked the eggs he rapidly hopped by with the brush. We reached a row of flowers, and eggs began to follow us.

"Touch the tips of the flowers."

I did as he asked and the flowers began to bounce and paint the eggs. Butterflies flew beside me to help spread the paint like if it was pollen.

"Hold on tightly," Bunny laughed.

I didn't know what to hold onto, so I leaned onto him a bit more. I could feel his body becoming warmer. I felt the wind becoming stronger. He took one last giant hop, and I could see a foutain of paint.

The eggs jumped into it as we landed beside it. A warm breeze blew as Bunny set me down.

"I'm still surprised  you can see me."

"Why? It's not like you don't exist."

"That's just it, darlin'." He sat down. "You're not a child, yet you can see me. Which means you believe in me. Why?"

I thought for a moment. Bunny's nose twitched as he tried to wait for an answer.

He looked at the fountain of paint and smiled. "Don't worry about it quite yet. After all, you're at the age where confusion and insecurity gets to ya." He put his paw on my shoulder. "I should get you home before I end up having people looking into your disappearance."

I clutched his arm. "Bunny..." He looked and me and I lost all thought of what I was going to say. "Promise to bring me here tomorrow."

His eyes bore into mine for a very long moment. He smiled. "Sure thing, darlin'. "
