STRUGGLES
TUE – 10/24

"IF YOU WERE TO get fired, what would the reason be?" I suddenly ask Aless.

Aless looks up from her notebook she is writing on and frowns. "What's up with that?"

"I don't know." I lean forward. "I'm just curious. Oh, and it has to be the most insanest reason you're capable of inflincting."

Celeste sits besides Aless and drops the chips bags on the table.

It is 5th period which is a lunch period for us. I just came back from AP Physics and I just wanted to kill myself. The class consists of so much knowledge, I simply should've switched to AP Lang for the amount of talking basis that my teacher has done.

"Hm, interesting question," Celeste says. She raises her brows. "Most likely from dumping hot coffee on my boss."

Aless snorts while I laugh. "I think you would definitely do that if consequences weren't a thing."

Celeste shakes her head. "Nope. I would actually do it."

I scowl. "You wouldn't."

"I would."

"Whatever," I retort. "Having common sense isn't really your thing."

Celeste rolls her eyes. I stuck my tongue at her and pop open a bag of chips.

"Hmm, oh, did you know, Amaira?" Aless asks and leans forward on her elbows. I pop a potato chip into my mouth and suck the flavors out as I chew on it.

"What?"

"We have an exam for AP American History next week," she says.

I drop my hands on the table and close my eyes. "You're fucking kidding me," I mutter.

"I wish I was." Aless sighs.

"I barely recovered from the last quiz and he's giving another exam?"

Aless shrugs. "I guess so."

I groan and push my head into my head. "I'm doomed." I look up at Aless. "There's no way I can do this."

"Amaira, calm down—" Celeste tried to interrupt, but I wasn't having it.

"Relax idiot," Aless says and shoves a chip into her mouth and sniffles. I stare at her in awe. There was no way she looks so relaxed at this dire moment when she was the one who relayed such preposterous information. I felt like I could drown myself eagerly within the second, and I knew how to swim, so it wouldn't even be an accident.

"I got a message from a friend saying there is going to be a three-day study session for AP American History, starting tomorrow. I saved the three of us a seat." She smirks.

My eyes widens. "Wait, really?! Where are these when you really need it?"

Aless smiles. "Yeah."

Celeste leans back and cross her arms over her chest. "Wow, how lucky."
