Chapter two

Akaza's POV:

I can't believe all those other demon slayers got in the way! Me and that hashira were having great one-on-one time, too.

I believe I heard someone say his name is Rengoku? I like it. A very strong name, like mine.

I'm just going to keep seeing him till he joins me as a demon. But, till then I'll have to keep Muzan from getting suspicous.

It's not close to day break yet, so I'll just go kill a few people while I'm waiting, I mean, it's not my fault I couldn't find the boy with hanafuda earrings. If Muzan wants him dead so badly why doesn't he just kill him himself?! I wouldn't dare say that to his face or he'd kill me.

Tanjiro's POV:

It's been a couple days since we departed from the Mugen Train and Mr. Rengoku's been acting really weird...

He sleeps all day, then I hear him get up during the night, I don't want to spy on him though because he's a hashira and will probably spot me.

I'm getting concerned so I decided to ask Zenitsu and Inosuke if they've noticed anything strange.

"He's probably going on missions, he IS a hashira after all." Zenitsu suggested.

"Who cares? He's not dead so why worry?" Inosuke blew me off.

"But, he's still healing! None of us are being sent on missions." I exclaimed.

"AGAIN, he's a hashira, so there are different expectations."

"Maybe I'll ask him..."

"If he's not telling anyone then he probably won't tell you." Zenitsu said and looked over to the sleeping hashira.

"I'll still try." I got out of my own bed and walked over to Mr. Rengoku's and tried to shake him awake.

"Mmhmm.." I kept shaking him. "Huh? Oh, Kamado boy, is it time for dinner?" He asked me.

"Well actually I wanted to ask you something."

"Okay!" He said enthusiastically even though he just woke up.

"What are you doing late at night?"

"Fighting demons!" He smiled, "After all, they only come out at night!"

Oh yeah... "But, aren't you still healing?"

"Demons never rest! So I can't either, but that's why I was sleeping until you woke me!"

"Oh... sorry." I frowned.

"It's completely normal to be worried about someones safety, but next time ask them about it when they're awake!" And with that, he fell back asleep just as quickly as he had woken up.

Zenitsu yelled at me, "WHY WOULD YOU WAKE A HASHIRA UP??? I WAS RIGHT!! NEXT TIME, LISTEN TO MEEEEEEE!!!!!"

Rengoku's POV:

A couple days after I first saw Akaza at the Mugen Train he kept showing up to see me.

Every night he would ask me the same question.
