The Catch (A Ja'Marr Chase Story)

Chapter 11

Me'Onna POV
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing I take my arms from around Ja'Marr smiling thinking of the night we had. I look to see who was calling and it was coach.

"Oh shit hey coach." I answered totally forgetting about practice.

"Hey Me'Onna I heard you had a long night with the whole raising canes thing congrats by the way. Do you think you could make it to practice today ? The guys are already here." He asked me and I played along.

"Of course coach give me 15 minutes and I'll be there." I respond waking Ja'Marr up urgently.

"Okay good and have you seen Ja'Marr ?" Coach asked sounding concerned.

"No but I'll be sure to call him coach." I say hanging up.

"Ja'Marr get the fuck up we gotta get to practice NOW!." I shook him and he rolled off the bed yelling. "Oh shit!" I run and quickly shower and change into some spare workout clothes I always keep in my truck.

Me and Ja'Marr both hop in the car and drive off. We pull up to the facility and I realized something.

"Ja'Marr we can't go in there together." He looked at me confused. "Why not ?"

"My contract basically says I can't mix business and pleasure so we gotta stay on the low." I said and we both sighed knowing this would be so hard to keep it discreet.

"You go in first and I'll come in like 5 minutes after you okay?" I said looking and him he nods leaning over quickly kissing me and leaving out my car.

I watch him walk in the practice facility smiling thinking about him and how in just little time I really like him and feel myself getting attached and this going somewhere.

After about 4 minutes I go into the facility jogging looking like I was running late and rushing. "Sorry I'm late coach I made it though wanna get started now?" I asked coach putting my stuff down and putting my hair up.

"Before we start let me talk to you." Coach says pulling me to the side ordering everyone to start warming up.

"I know coach I'm sorry about being late I didn't mean to sleep in that long after celebrating I for-"
He cut me off.

"It's not about that that's understandable. It's about you and Ja'Marr, I see you shared your partnership with him and you know your contract states no relations with players or other staff members. Before my thoughts start wandering is there anything going on with you and him." He asked looking at me seriously and my heart dropped.

I swallowed deeply. "Of course not coach Me , Ja'Marr and ,Tee are all close friends and Ja'Marr loaned me his realtor so I could find my house down here and helped me move in. I was trying to find a way to repay him and Tee told me he loves raising canes so I thought that would be the way to do it." I said lying straight through my teeth only telling the halfway truth.

Coach looked in my eyes for any sign of me lying but I showed none. "Alright Me'Onna I believe you just don't let me see anything suspicious." He patted my shoulder and we both ran over to start up on practice.

During the one on one drill I went over to Ja'Marr acting like I was coaching him and giving him a route to run, when in reality I was talking to him.

"Did coach ask you about us?" He nodded like he was listening to me.

"Yeah as soon as I came in, but it's okay ma we gon keep it quiet. Ima come over after this and we can chat more." I nod

"Ja'Marr you got it ?" He gave the a thumbs up running the post corner route that I gave him perfectly. Beating the DB and catching the ball hitting the griddy in the process.

"Meme you have him that route ?!!" Coach said overly excited. "Yes I did coach and he executed it perfectly." Coach high fived me telling me that tee would be the last receiver up and he as to catch this to end practice.

He runs over to me and I give him a mini pep talk too. "I need you and Ja'Marr to follow me to my house after this we got some shit to talk about. Now run a comeback go." He nodded and lined up on the line.

I gave him a thumbs up and he did it back and joe burrow hiked the ball taking his three steps seeing Tee come back and cut forward to a go route leaving the DB behind Joe let the ball go right into the hands of tee.

All the guys cheered going into the huddle to be dismissed from practice.

After they were dismissed both the Joe's come up to me Joe Mixon and Joe Burrow.

"Listen Me we know about you and Ja'Marr we both honestly love you for him so we'll make sure to keep it hush and keep coach and everyone away from it. Just keep our boy on track we need him this year." Joe borrow winks at me and keeps walking .

I walk out to my car texting tee telling him I'm leaving now don't forget to meet me at my house.

I decide to call home while I was driving. I called my moms phone eagerly wanting her to answer.

"Hey baby how you doing love?"

"Mom I'm in a crisis.. so you know I said I was feeling Ja'Marr right? So me and him made it official yesterday and now we have to keep it discreet because my contract states I can't have relations with anybody involved in the team. What do I do ma I'm mad nervous that somebody gon find out"

"Oh baby listen to me I know that this is your dream career but love won't always be there especially something real. I can tell you really like this boy because of how your face lights up when you talk about him and how you blush when someone says his name. Makes me think of me and your father, but you can always find another job. I'm not saying give it up I'm saying if someone finds out they do if they don't then they don't. Just make sure you're happy in whatever happens." My mom says.

I honestly was just listening taking in everything that she was saying. She is right love isn't always there but another job would be a lot easier to come around.

"You're right mom. I gotta go though I love you so much tell everyone I said hi and I'll be seeing y'all soon." I blew a kiss in the phone and hung up.

I soon pulled up to my house with tee and Ja'Marr not to far behind me. We all got out our cars walking into my house.

I plopped down on the couch slouching my shoulders immediately feeling down about this whole shit with me and Ja'Marr and my job.

"Listen Me, Mar told me bout the situ with coach and ima tell you think no matter what happens with this job shit you always gon have Ja'Marr I like y'all for each other even in such lil time. So yes keep it secret but if anybody finds out then fuck them." Tee said making me smile. Maybe I should just listen to everybody and stop being in my head so much.

"Listen mamas I'm not going no where okay no matter what happens I'm here if they do find out just explain it's not like you distracting me or anything you're helping me so we can be down low all pictures or anything is just for us I promise I got you." Ja'Marr came over putting his arm around me kissing my forehead, making me automatically relax.

Well let's hope it stays that way .
