Chapter 14

He gulped down the water and said, "Are you sure?"

"Haan baba. I am 100% sure. Koi aur hota na laat maarke bhaga deti. I trust you Sidharth. I know you don't have any wrong intentions but only love for me." Shehnaaz cleared his doubts.

"Aaja wapas so jaa. Vaise bhi tu paas hota hai toh sukoon rehta hai." Shehnaaz said after sometime looking at Sidharth who was lost in her face.

He was spellbound with what she said a minute before even without realizing. He knew he has started to feel for her but dare not say due to the fear of her going away. But today she has unknowingly pulled his heartstrings.

He slept beside her who came near him and held his hand. Sidharth was wide awake thinking, "Pyaar bhi uss se hua hai jo pyaar se darti hai. I know I can't confess, atleast not now. I need to wait and be patient with her."

But then he was reminded of someone. "I miss you." Sidharth said looking out of the window at the stars shining brightly in the sky.

Few days later, Rupanshi came again stating some reason. This time Sidharth decided that he will ask her what is she thinking. In past few days, Rupanshi has come repeatedly to the hospital and every time she comes with a lunch box.

"Jai Shree Krishna Sidharth Ji. Aaj maine Gulab Jamun banaye the isliye aapke liye bhi..." She blushed profusely while handing the box to Sidharth.

Sidharth thought, "Yaa toh aaj bol deta hun varna bahut late ho jaayega."

"Dekhiye Rupandhi Ji. Aapka treatment bahut hadd tak ho chuka hai. Aur ab aapko roz aane ki zarurat nahi hai. It is just that you can visit twice a month to be on a safer side. But aap yahan almost roz aati hai. Aap jaanti hai na ki yeh meri workplace hai. It doesn't look good." Sidharth said.

"Ji mein maafi chahti hun. Aap kahegen toh ab yahan roz nahi aaungi. Aap bata dijiye jahan hum mil sakte hai." Rupanshi said looking down.

"Hey Prabhu!" Sidharth said in mind banging his forehead.

"Aap yeh bata sakti hai ki hum roz kyu mile?" Sidharth asked.

"Vo mein...aapse...matlab aapko pasand karti hun. Aap pehle aise insaan the meri family ke alawa jisne mere saath achha vyavahar kia." Rupanshi said honestly as it was a fact for her.

"Okay. I got it. But kya aapne mujhse kabhi puchne ki koshish ki, ki mein kya chahta hun?" Sidharth asked in a humble way not to disrespect or insult her feelings.

"Ji nahi. Par aapko toh mera banaya hua har khaana achha lagta hai. Mein aapko uss se mana lun gi." Rupanshi said, taking the quote ki aadmi ke dil ka raasta uske pait se hokar guzarta hai.

"Rupanshi, uss hisaab se to mujhe meri house help sabse zyaada pasand honi chahiye." Sidharth replied but on seeing her sad face, he again said "Dekho I have no right to say anything about your feelings but I think aapne mere behaviour ko galat way mai le lia hai. Honestly, I have no feelings for you. Please bura mat man na par mein aapko andhere mai nahi rakhna chahta. Starting mai maine isliye kuch nahi bola mujhe laga aap samajh jaayegi par ab lagta hi ki aapko pehle hi bata dena chahiye tha."

"Mujhme koi burai hai jo aap mujhe pasand nahi karte? Kahi mera rang..." Rupanshi trailed off with tears flowing from her eyes.

"Now you taking this on an entirely different tangent. Maine kabhi aisa kuch kaha ya aapko feel karaya." Sidharth asked and she shook her head in denial. So he continued, "Phir aap aisa kyu soch rahi hai. Abhi aap mujhe ekdum uss stage...infact uss se ek stage upar hi lag rahi hai jaisa maine aapko pehli baar dekha tha. Tab aap log kya bolte hai uss wajah se pareshaan thi ab aap khud hi assume kar rahi hai ki maine aapke baare mai kuch socha hoga."

"Sorry" Saying this she started crying loudly. Sidharth felt bad for her but he did not want to mislead her in any way. It would have hurt her only in the long run.

"See, I am not answerable to you in any way. But I feel sorry that you are hurt because of me, even though it was unintentional. Actually, the reason I am not reciprocating to your feelings is just not that I don't feel for you but I feel for someone else." Sidharth said honestly.

Sidharth repeated, "I love someone."

Rupanshi looked at him with tears flowing from her eyes. She could not take it any longer so she stood up wiping her face and ran out of the cabin.

Sidharth was shocked to see a teary eyed Shehnaaz standing near the cabin door.

"Shehnaaz..." he whispered and stood up immediately.
