Skyler

I wonder if she heard that.

Class started but the whole time all I could think about was asking her to get ice cream later.

I shouldn't be this worried but it tears me apart to think of her telling me no.

Next thing I know the bell is ringing, breaking me from my thoughts.

I looked down at my notebook.

At least I got some of the notes I was supposed to.

I looked over as Riley was packing up.

"Hey, um would you like to go get ice cream with me later?"
"Maybe." She smiled and walked out of the classroom.

I couldn't help but stare as she left, smiling like an idiot.

At least she didn't say no.

Riley

I told you I was going to make this the fight of his life.

Now he's probably thinking of a hundred different things.

The question is, do I really feel like going?

Just kidding.

I'll go, but only after I've made him wait all day for a response.

Skyler

I looked at my phone and debated whether I should text her or not.

Is she playing some game?

Doesn't matter.

If she wants to she will let me know eventually.

If I'm being honest, I've never felt this way for anyone.

She makes me want to try, makes me want to take her out, and she makes me want to do anything for her.

It might sound dumb but it's true..

No matter, I have 20 minutes until school is over and then maybe she will decide to go.

Just then a text popped up on my phone.

"Meet me outside the school, we'll walk to the ice cream place."

Something inside me felt a huge rush of relief only to be replaced again by a sense of nervousness.

I left class and went to the restroom.

When I got there I found myself fixing my hair and popping a piece of gum in my mouth from a pack I keep in my pocket.

She really did this to me.

Turning me into a self conscious idiot.

All I have to do is be myself. That's it.

If she doesn't like it then she isn't the one for me.

Even though some part of me still prayed she'd liked me.

I guess soon - hopefully - we'll find out.

Riley

School was finally over and I sat on a bench outside.

It was a decently warm day and there was no sign of rain.

At least he knows a decent day to get ice cream.

Any other guy would wanna go get ice cream when it's snowing.

Or maybe he is just like the other guys.

It's possible I'm falling for him.

I don't know anymore.

I want to like him but in reality I don't want to get hurt like I do every time.

Who knows, maybe he really is different.

Suddenly a big group walked out of the school.

The football dorks.

Skyler was walking in the front and goofing around behind him was the rest of the team.

Mixed in with that group were the cheerleaders.

But Skyler walked alone near the front, and he didn't even say bye to anyone, he just walked straight up to me and gave a big smile.

For some reason it melted my guard and I found myself smiling and looking down.

Dang it. There goes that.

Now it's probably obvious I like him.

Such a girly girl move.

Unreal.

Oh well. Next mission?

Ice cream.
