Chapter 19-Roman

"Her lazy ass is still snoring in my head, I think when she gets tired she shares her tiredness with me so I sleep even longer" she mutters finally opening her eyes and stretching

"What's your wolf's name?"

"Tamisra. She's the best actually, we have a really good relationship even though I make fun of her all the time. What's yours?" she says as she turns over and runs her hand across my chest.

"And what does she think of me? Mine is Adonis, he's an ass." He growls at me and wants to take over to tell her I'm the ass, but I push him back. 'I'll ask her to go for a run later if you behave' I tell him and he instantly complies

"She's wary, but she likes you. I think she's more protective of me than anything, especially after everything else. She wasn't even a huge fan of Felix, let alone any other man. So you should feel special. Also you shouldn't call your wolf an ass, you guys are both the same person and you're stuck with each other. Might as well get along"

"We get along just fine, he's been acting weird since I met you. He likes you, I know that much but he hasn't said anything else other than asking to go on a run with you." I say as I watch her face light up

"Tami said if I don't say yes she'll ask the Goddess for a new human, so I guess I have no choice" she laughs. I probably look like an idiot since I smile everytime she laughs but it's quickly turning into my favorite sound

"Hmm so you don't actually want to?" I raise a brow at her

"Did I say that? No. Don't jump to conclusions" she teases me back

"I don't like the sass, Little Devil. What's your favorite color?" I say

"Black, you?"

"Red. Favorite food?" I ask

"What is this, 20 questions? Don't I get a turn?"

"Fine, but answer my question!"

"You're very demanding, Alpha. Sushi." she rolls her eyes "Favorite childhood memory? Mine is when both my parents and Seth took us to the beach off territory. We were the only ones there and they let us swim until 2am" she smiles

"Really, sushi? Mine is steak, and my favorite childhood memory, hmmm" I pause, thinking "probably when Violet was 3, Gemma was 5, and I was 7-they teamed up on me during a haunted house. They both grabbed my ankle and pulled me down. I didn't even scream, I just stared at them and they ran away screaming and I chased them. We got kicked out of the haunted house and we weren't even halfway through. Favorite movie? Mine is the Fast and the Furious movies"

"What's wrong with sushi? I think it's cute you're so close with both your sisters. Big broody Alpha is probably a big teddy bear with them. Also, how very stereotypical of you. You know they made way too many of those, they should have stopped after like the 4th one. Seriously, how many damn movies can you make about fancy cars going vroom vroom. My favorite is Titanic." she smiles

"And you call me stereotypical? That's a typical female mushy movie. You know they both could have fit on that damn door right? I never even watched it but I walked in when my sisters were bawling over that. Dumbest ending ever" I scoff

"You can't talk shit on it if you've never seen it! You know you have to watch it with me now. What's your favorite song? Mine is Swing Life Away by Rise Against"

"I don't listen to a lot of music but I guess it would have to be Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers" I say as I watch her eyes go wide

"Why don't you listen to a lot of music? I always listen to music! One of the first things I'm going to buy when I start making money is a phone so I can start working on my playlists. Music always puts into words what I feel but can't say, I have a playlist for each mood."

"Download your music on my phone. I'll listen to anything if it helps me understand you. Why don't you just let me buy you a phone? I know you want to be independent and you can be once you start getting paid but let me do some little things for you." I say pulling her closer to me and kissing her

"Give your phone here then! And because I don't want to depend on you! A phone is no little thing, it's like almost a thousand dollars. I know you're a big bad Alpha and all but to us normal people that's a lot of money! Besides your pack needs that money more than I need a phone" she says after she pulls away from my kiss

"My pack has everything they need and more. If any pack member came to me and asked for a phone because they couldn't afford it then I would get one for them. There's funds set aside for any pack member who might struggle financially for any reason, loss of a mate, fired from a job, whatever the reason I won't let anyone go without. And here you are, the one woman who isn't related to me that I want to spoil and you won't let me" I say, pretending to be hurt as I hand her my phone

"Fine, but I'm paying you back! No arguments." she says as she opens my phone and starts to scroll through my music.

I will listen to any song she adds on there if I can give me a glimpse inside her head. It's not that I don't like music, I just don't like to be distracted when I'm doing paperwork or training. I watch her as she starts to search for songs.

"Make a playlist for your mood now and play those songs while you do that" I tell her, kissing her head. Fuck I just can't keep my lips off her. She looks up at me and smiles, her beautiful green eyes sparkling.

"Are you sure you've never dated before? You're way too good at this" she says suspiciously

"Cross my heart. My only girlfriend was Jessica Sanchez in the third grade. Dated her for a whole week"

"Was she prettier than me?" she says narrowing her eyes, but obviously joking as she tries not to laugh

"Not possible." I tell her, laughing but I'm completely serious

"Hmmmm" she says, but doesn't say anything else. We sit in silence for a few minutes while she makes a playlist and then she scrolls through the playlist, picking 'Bloodstream' by Stateless. I listen to the lyrics in silence, smiling when the chorus hits

'I think I might of inhaled you

I can feel you behind my eyes

You've gotten into my bloodstream

I can feel you flowing in me'

She's fucking cute. I can see her cheeks tinged pink when I smile after the chorus. We sit like this for a while, listening to song after song. She plays 'Tough Lover' by Christina Agulaira, 'I Caught Fire' by the Used, but my favorite she played was 'Imaginary' by Evanescence because she said it was her second favorite song. I could see how she related to it. Based on what little things she told me about her life in her old pack, I'm sure she spent a lot of time daydreaming of being somewhere else.

I frown a little when she plays Swing Life Away. I would never be able to give her a carefree life, and I know that's what she wants. I'm an Alpha, nothing about my life is carefree. I know for a fact she didn't enjoy being the Beta Female, but I think that was more because she wasn't used for anything useful. If we were to ever get serious and I made her my Luna she would be my equal. She wouldn't just stand on the sidelines and look pretty. Ok, I need to shut up. I'm getting ahead of myself here. I'll cross that bridge when and if I come to it.
