"My beautiful daughter," Ronal whispered, her hands tenderly cradling your face. Despite keeping your eyes closed, you couldn't help but smile, humming in response to her words.
A celebration would be taking place the next day. In honor of you and Neteyam, but also for those who had too been injured, and in memory of those who lost their lives.
It would be a moment of love, reuniting with your families, and peace.
Your mother smiled at you, her heart beat was finally at a calm pace, all of her children were safe and with her.
To her surprise, Jake had walked to the entrance of the Marui, accompanied by the dream walker that helped treat you and Neteyam.
Your mothers smiled dropped, her face was still as she watched the two of them.
"Norm..He uh, he needs to check on her." Jake stammered, referring to the dream walker at his side. He was much more awkward talking to Ronal than he had been before, everything was at constant tension.
Norm, what a weird name.
You opened your eyes, your mother took a deep breath, nodding her head to two of them. She had her ways of healing you, and they had theirs. Which was something she wasn't completely on agreement with.
You sat yourself up, Ronal was helped up by Tsireya who had entered behind Jake, her hair too decorated and styled in a beautiful manner.
You looked at Norm, who had smiled to you, you responded with a small grin.
He was careful checking your leg, as well as your wrap. The only equipment he held in his hands was a strange object, holding it over your chest where your heart laid. Two ends connected to his ears as he seemed to listen for your heart beat.
Tsireya and Ronal watched further back.
"You said she had been out, Jake?"
"Yeah. She had been out, she was just struggling to walk."
"Nothing seems too out of the ordinary. But I'm sure you're not feeling the best when you walk right?" Norm turned to you again, you nodded your head slowly, your ears flicking.
"Well it's not going to be like that for too long now, you bone is going to be kept in place with this thing, you see?" He pointed to the cast, you wondered where they had the time to come up with such strange yet effective inventions.
"And for this," He motioned to your wound, "Mind if I?" Norm hovered his hand over your wrap, you nodded in approval.
He pressed down gently, "It's still on pretty tight, as far as I know, you're on track. You should keep weight off your leg, and rest." He moved his hand away, standing up and tossing the foreign item to Jake. "We'll probably need to replace it tomorrow, though."
"Any complications and just send Jake to come get me, got it?" He stood proudly with his hands on his hips.
"Yes, thank you." You responded, your smile growing.
"Yeah! No problem." He replied, waving you off and leaving the Marui, his eyes trailing from you to your mother.
Jake stayed back for a few seconds, looking to you and your mother, concern etched on his face. "Goodnight."
—
You woke up in your sleeping spot, finally in your own home.
No one else was in there, as they were all preparing for the celebration and left you to rest.
