Identity

I barely got any sleep thinking of all the possibilities.

'What if Hikari didn't have any parents? Would we find her a real family to adopt her? What if she did have a family but they were neglectful people? Or what if they are the best people who miss their daughter so very much?'

I toss and turn all night of the amount of 'what if's', and before I knew it, the sun had risen. On the way to the port as scheduled, I look to see a lot more people there than I expected. "What are you guys doing here?" I ask, stopping in front of them. "Same reason Lucy's here," says Natsu. Happy nods in agreement. "You're so very strong, good girl," Erza says before pulling my head into her armor, I nearly pass out from the impact. Fixing myself, I look at Wendy and Carla, giving me their supportive smiles. The wind blows my hair into my face. I follow to breeze and see Grey walking with Hikari in hand.

"What are you doing here, Piro?" he says, picking a fight with Natsu right away. "What you call me?!" Natsu snaps. My eyes stay on Grey, looking down to see Hikari hiding behind his leg. She doesn't look at me, and I let out a frown.

'She's still mad at me'

"Remember what we promised?" I hear Grey whisper to her. I look at him confused, then see Hikari walk in front of him nervously playing with her dress. Hikari avoids eye contact, but she reaches out for me. I smile and lift her in my arms. She lays her head on my shoulder as I hug her gently. The others smile admiring the moment. I look at Grey, still smiling. Our eye contact smacks him back to reality. "We should get going," he says as he clears his throat.

With Hikari in my arms, my mind clouds, recalling all the possibilities from last night. I suddenly feel a rock and quickly look around. "Oh no," I say. We had walked on a boat, and it didn't take long for the sickness to hit. I hold it together before Rio grabs Hikari out my hands. I fall on the deck joining Natsu and Wendy. "What's wrong with Mommy?" Hikari asks, concerned as Rio flies her over to Grey. "Don't worry, Hikari, she just gets uh sea sick," Grey says with a grin on his face. I don't have the ability to say anything, so I ignore his grinning face.

The boat ride felt like days. The pain in my stomach never stops as I lay my head on Natsu stomach as a pillow, propping my head up. Our pain noises fill the air. However, in spite of my unfortunate state, I turn over to see Hikari with Grey at the front of the boat. She sits on the wooden rail as he holds her. I can hear her giggles. They fill the air. My sight shifts from Hikari to Grey, with the wind blowing his hair back, I can see he's smiling.

A smile grows on my face till I feel the boat rock back and forth, stopping suddenly. It causes Natsu, Wendy, and me to roll on the deck floor. I tried propping myself up and saw we finally reached the port of the island. Lucy walks over and helps me up, wrapping my hand around her, supporting me up with her hand around my waist. My feet drag a bit as she carries me off the boat.

"Thanks, Lucy," I say in a weak voice with a forced smile till I quickly cover my mouth, pushing myself away. I drop to the floor. I throw up what I had for breakfast in the morning into the sea. Lucy forces an awkward smile kneeling down next to me. I feel her pat my back, "Let it out," she says.

I let out a disgusted groan wiping my mouth. "I'm never riding one of those stupid things again," I mumble. "You say that yet here we always end up," Rio says, flying above me. "Shut up," I say, annoyed. He throws me a napkin and some water. I rinse my mouth out, fixing myself, till I'm finally able to stand. I stretch, "Are you ok, mommy?" Hikari says, placing a hand on my leg. It startled me, but I bent down to pick her up, "I'm way better now," I say, smooching her face, causing her to let out a giggle.
