Losing you was like losing a ring
A ring you saved up for for months
A ring you gave all your time and energy to
A ring that didn't quite fit
But you didn't notice until it fell off

You came back
And I found that ring
But you left me broken in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 pieces,
All the kings horses
And all the kings men
Couldn't seem to put me together again
And the ring fell off  — again

But I was glued back together
And it was starting to dry
When we stopped being mad
And the aquamarine ring came back,
This time I put it on my middle finger
So it didn't fall off
And you stayed a friend
I couldn't fall in love again
But the ring didn't fit
And I couldn't take you anymore

I was convinced the ring was lost for good this time
I wanted it gone for good this time
I needed you gone for good this time,
But then I see the bright blue gem
Shining in the sun
On the side walk in front of my house
I see your name on my Lock Screen
Screaming out to forgive you
But this time I'll ignore it
It's not worth it
You're not worth it
I'll just lose it again
You'll just leave me again
