Neteyam ordered everyone to move in the opposite direction from which the ship was approaching. You dived into the water, mounting your Ilu.
—
By this time, the group had been mostly split up, you were being hunted by The Sky People beneath the water. They were in strange machines that were cutting through the plants and attempting to grab onto you and everyone else.
You shielded your sister from being captured, throwing you off course as you did.
She tried to go back for you, but you urged her to continue swimming away. You knew she would be able to protect the others, but you hoped she would protect herself as well.
You were full of adrenaline at this point, so there was no stopping now.
You kept swimming, your Ilu had been injured along the way from the shooting of the Sky People after you, and the ones shooting above the water.
You had to let go, you couldn't handle watching the poor Ilu die, it was better off swimming away than to have its life taken away under your guidance.
Stranded and alone, you frantically searched your surroundings as gunfire echoed through the water. You couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration and guilt for losing sight of your sister. You couldn't shake the worry that you might be the only one who had managed to escape the pursuit. The loud gunshots made it impossible to swim to the surface, adding to the fear and uncertainty of the situation.
You could hear the sounds of an Ilu, turning yourself to the direction of it, Neteyam held his hand out, quickly grabbing you and pulling you onto his Ilu.
He held the pin, dropping it as he rode to the demon and then gripped your thigh firmly. He closed his eyes for a second, he seemed to have one less worry lifted seeing that you were okay.
The closer you were getting to the ship, the more your stomach turned. It felt cold, the ship was much bigger than you anticipated.
Upon seeing Tsireya, as well as Tuk and Lo'ak tied up, that feeling immediately left your body.
You understood now, you understood Neteyam's constant desire to protect. Just as you always protected your siblings, but this was a different kind of protection. You were angry.
Neteyam looked to you, pointing to the surface near the ships deck. You hugged around his waist as the Ilu shot up from the water. You and Neteyam catching onto the rails and landing directly on the deck.
Tuk gasped to your arrival, "Neteyam! Y/N!"
You hissed, rushing to them and immediately checking on your sister.
"Neteyam!" You yelled, since you didn't have anything to free them with. He quickly cut the cuffs off from the rails to Tsireya's arm.
You helped her up, doing the same with Tuk as he went down the line freeing him. You pushed Tuk closer to Tsireya, cupping Tsireya's face as you spoke. "Sister, get Tuk out of here. Get away."
She nodded, leaning into your hand. "What about you, Y/N? Please come." Tsireya begged, her eyes were wide and her face was filled with worry.
You shook your head, you were taught to protect, your siblings were taught to fight for your brothers and sisters.
"I will be okay. Just hurry!" You urged her off the ship, pushing Tuk with her as well.
You turned around, Neteyam placing a hand on your lower back and running towards the edge of the ship as well.
He turned to Lo'ak grabbing a firearm, which was unfamiliar to you as well. "Lo'ak!"
"They have spider." He told Neteyam, who hesitated whether or not he would stay or go. You remembered that name, his human brother.
"Come on bro, we have to save him." Lo'ak begged, Neteyam looked at you, you nodded your head.
He looked to his feet, his hand still on your lower back. He knew that with this, he'd break his own promise at never putting you at risk. That you'd never be touched by the sky people.
