Journal Entry #1                         January 20th, 1987

Today is cloudy, but not snowy. Just overcast. I sometimes like this weather when I'm in the right mood, but today is not that day. I'd rather today be sunny, but I'd have to wait until March or April for one of those days. I might go to the library today and get a book. On days like these, it's nice to read a book just to pass the time by. I heard it's supposed to snow, so I might get a few books. I'll report back later to write what books I decided to get.

I shut my journal, and with that, I set off to the library. I told my father, an alcoholic asshole, that I would be back later. He was passed out on the couch, a bottle of whiskey in one hand, and a burnt out cigarette in the other. All I got for a response was a grunt. Allow me to recreate the conversation for you.

"Hey, Dad, I'm going to the library."
     "Hm.." he grunted.
Then I stood in the foyer, looking at him before I opened the front door.
"I might be a while." I got no reply and I stood in silence. "Okay, bye, asshole," I muttered under my breath. I opened the door as quietly as I could, but the cabin I lived in was old, so it creaked more than I anticipated. I shut the door gently, and walked down the hill to my truck, and I drove to the library.

The library was about a 30 minute drive from my house. I lived in a small town that was spread out. I liked it because I didn't have to worry about any neighbors around my house or city violations. By the time I got to the library, it was starting to sleet. I pulled my hood onto my head and walked inside, waving to the desk lady. I walked over to the fiction books, and picked out one about fictional creatures and beings. Werewolves, mermaids, ghosts, and vampires.

My favorite supernatural being was the vampire. The thought of death always scared me, so I desired strongly for vampires to be real. The transformation also intrigued me. Deep down, I desired to be turned, both into a vampire and in another way. I was born a girl, but I completely felt like the opposite. The only occasion where I would wear girly clothes was when I was little. Now, I've grown a bit, and the thought of it makes me very uncomfortable.

I mostly dress in an oversized jacket and I keep my hood up. The only feminine feature I truly like on myself is my long hair. It's like my security, and it makes me feel covered. I haven't heard anyone who felt the same way I did, so I just kept my secret just that, and I went by my birth name, Theodore.

As I read the book I chose, I felt a pair of eyes looking at me. I looked to my right, and I saw him. He was beautiful. Curly hair, chiseled jawline, slim nose, and he was dressed in more fancy attire than I was used to. He didn't look away when I looked at him. He kept staring into my eyes, and when I looked away, he let out a small giggle.

"I'm definitely not his type," I thought to myself. I looked back at him, and he was smiling, resting his arms on the desk. I wanted to wait until he was gone to check out my books, but after waiting for ten minutes for him to move, I had no choice but to just go up to him, and get them checked out.

I walked up to the desk and I didn't see the lady who was working when I walked in. Instead, this beautiful man walked behind the desk, and sat down.
"I was wondering when you were going to check out the books," he said with a smile. I was shy, so I didn't say anything.
"What name will this be checked out under?"
I stood quiet for a second before my name spilled out of my lips quietly.
"Theodore," I said quietly, almost embarrassed that that was even my name. I wish it was something different.
"I'm sorry, what was that?" He asked. I repeated myself a bit louder, and he smiled, happy to get an answer out of me.
"You, uh, ready for this snow storm?" He asked. I shook my head 'no.'
"You don't really talk much, do you?" I smiled softly at that remark.
"No, I guess not," I chuckled. He smiled when I responded. Truth is I didn't like my voice. I longed for it to be deeper, masculine, and intimidating. It was everything but those things.

He finished checking out my books, all of which were about supernatural creatures. He handed them back to me, but didn't let them go.
"My name is Timothée," he let go of my books and rested his arms on the desk in front of him. I smiled at him and replied.
"Hello, Timothée. It's nice to meet you."
"I guess I'll see you around?"
"Yeah, sure! I'll bring these back in a few days if this snow storm isn't too bad.
"Sounds good to me! See you around!"
     "See you!"

I walked out of the library and got in my truck. The roads were already starting to get covered by the snow. I started the engine and slowly backed out of the parking lot. I began to drive and made it to the first red light. After it turned green, I started driving home. Thankfully, I arrived safely, but I would soon regret coming back.
