steve had given us kids the job of cleaning up the house, so whilst the others had to get on their hands and knees to clean, all I had to do was wave my arms around a bit and, boom. the job was done.

meaning, I had time to relax and fall back onto the sofa. but the second my back clashed with the soft fabric, a million worries flooded my head. how many of those dogs were really in that place? would hopper's gun even kill them? would I ever get to see el again?

I had been so lost in thought, I didn't even notice that there was a
full-blown argument going on in the room.

"-and second, we're not even in the game." mike argued at steve for some reason, "we're on the bench."

"-uh... so my point is.." steve stammered before everyone awaited his answer, "right, yeah, we're on the bench so there's nothing we can do."

"that's not entirely true." dustin commented, "I mean, these demodogs, they have a hive mind. when they ran away from the bus, they were called away."

"-so, if we get their attention.." lucas began.

"maybe we can draw them away from the lab." max added.

"clearing a path to the gate.." mike stated.

"and protecting el from the dogs!" I finished.

"yeah, and then we all die!" steve exclaimed.

"well, that's one point of view." dustin said.

"it's not a point of view, man." steve replied, "that's a fact."

"I got it!" mike suddenly cried out before marching into the kitchen, we all followed. he pointed to a certain place on the map of crayoned-papers, that for some reason decorated the house from head-to-toe.

"this is where the chief dug his hole.." mike announced, "this is our way into the tunnel, so.." he then got up and made his way over to another place in the map of papers, "here, right here. this is the hub, so you got all the tunnels feeding in here.. so maybe if we set this on fire-"

"oh yeah? that's a no." steve interrupted.

"-the mindflayer would call away his army." dustin said.

"-they'd all come to stop us." lucas added.

"-and then we circle back to the exit, by the time they realise we're gone-" mike continued.

"-el would be at the gate!" max concluded.

"hey! hey! hey!" steve clapped his hands loudly, "this is not happening!"

"but-" we all said in unison.

"no buts. I promised I'd keep you shitheads safe and that's exactly what I plan on-" steve started but I cut him off.

"I promised the same thing, steve." I began, "if we go ahead with this plan, not only would we be keeping us guys safe, we'd also be keeping eleven safe-"

"y/n, remember what happened the last time you fought those dogs?-" steve quizzed.

"yeah, I like totally destroyed them-" I fired back.

"-yeah, but you also passed out, and we can't have that happening again. so we're staying here, on the bench. end of. understand?" steve finished.

"this isn't a stupid sports game." mike complained.

"I said, does everybody understand that?" steve said sternly, "I need a yes."

steve didn't get a reply, all he got was the loud, ferocious roar of a car engine coming from outside.
