indistinct chatter rang like bells in both of my ears, these people really weren't shutting up.

"um!.. guys!" I called out to the group.

"what is it now y/n? it better not be that you're tired again because-" steve began to ramble but I interrupted him.

"lights.. lab." I cut him off, and everyone finally stopped yakking. they turned their heads to find the lab's lights flick on, floor by floor.

we all raced to the control booth where jonathan began to jam at the buttons, hoping that he'd press the correct one soon enough.

"let me try." dustin shoved against jonathan, who was still struggling with the task of getting the gates to open.

"-hang on." jonathan told him whilst shoving back.

"let me try, jonathan!" dustin impatiently whined before jonathan backed away and dustin also started hitting at the button.

"son of a bitch, y'know what.." dustin groaned until just 10 or so seconds later the doors automatically opened, "hey! I got it!"

—————————

nancy and jonathan piled into his car before he slammed on the accelerate pedal and the car went speeding through the gates.

meanwhile, steve and us other kids were left to wait about at the gates.

————

"guys?" max called out, we all turned to look at the lab to find two cars bolting down the small road. they honked their horns, warning us all to get out of the way.

jonathan's car sped past us whilst hopper's police truck stopped.

"let's go." hop demanded whilst steve leapt forward to open the door and usher us kids into the truck.

"go, go, go, get in, come on!!" we all exclaimed at eachother before steve slammed the door shut and the car zoomed down the roads again.

————————————

we were now all safely cooped up inside the byers house, will was asleep on the sofa while the rest of us were left to wander the house.

"they didn't believe you, did they?" dustin asked hopper, who had just came off the phone with some army people or something.

"we'll see." hopper grunted in response.

"we'll see? we can't just sit here while these things are loose!" mike cried out.

"we stay here, and we wait for help." hopper ordered gruffly before storming out of the room.

a peaceful silence lingered about in the air as us kids sat around the byers' dinner table. mike's soft gaze fell upon bob's brain-teaser things just as I was about to nod off again.

he got up and made this way over to the equipment before picking up a sort of blue box with elastic bands around it. he inspected it carefully before speaking up, "did you guys know that bob was the original founder of hawkins AV?"

"for real?" I asked, literally about to fall asleep again any second.

"mhm, he petitioned the school to start it and everything, then he had a fundraiser for equipment." mike informed, "mr clarke learned everything from him. pretty awesome, right?"

"yeah," I smiled whilst rubbing my eyes to keep myself awake again, "..pretty awesome." dustin and lucas seemed to agree with me too.

"we can't let him die in vain." mike announced whilst placing the blue box onto the table.
