"And often call and visit us." My mother said sadly, holding my hand. I nodded, giving her a warm smile, and squeezed her hand.

A few years later

"Are you ready?" I turned towards Nicole who was sitting beside me in the back seat of the limousine as the driver parked the car in front of the venue where the gala were taking place.

I came back to New York two days ago. My family was happy that I finally returned back. My mother organized a dinner party, inviting my siblings with their families and our close relatives to celebrate my return.

"Yes, I am." She nodded and took a deep breath.

I asked Nicole to accompany me to the charity gala because I wanted to show Aurora that I moved on despite the fact it was a total lie. I couldn't still forget her, but I kept my promises that I wouldn't bother her anymore as she wished.

Nicole accepted my suggestion because Lucca would be here, and she didn't feel comfortable to face him after what happened between Lucca, Nathan's sister, Charlotte, and her.

I was sipping my drink absently as Nicole went to talk to her friend. Troy called me with a hand gesture to join him, but I refused, shaking my head because he was talking to one of my father's business partners; I wasn't in the mood to listen to their conversation about business.

"Oh, you are back." Logan gave me a mocking look as he approached me, holding a flute of champagne in his hand.

"You look so happy to my return, Logan Harris. Or should I call you Logan Harrison?" I asked, smirking sarcastically.

"I thought you really liked my cousin." He commented nonchalantly and sipped his drink.

"What?!" I asked, confused, raising my eyebrow.

He gave me a knowing smirk. "You were trying to kill me with your eyes when you saw us together. I intentionally stayed close to Aurora to see your reaction." He confessed firmly.

I looked at him, dumbfounded. "What... You knew?! Did she tell you about me?" I asked in confusion and rubbed my chin.

"Not particularly. I knew there was some guy in her life. Then when I saw how you looked at each other, I put two and two together." He replied wickedly. "But I thought you would fight to get her, not give up on her easily." He added firmly and took a sip from his champagne.

I sighed, running my hand through my hair and said sadly. "She doesn't want me."

He smirked cockily and shook his head. "When a girl has trust issues, it is hard for her to believe in men again. Only a man who truly loves her can earn her trust by proving his sincerity with his actions, and of course, without giving up on her." He stated firmly.

"I am the last man who can earn her trust." I commented sarcastically and finished my drink in a sip.

"Playboys can fall in love as well." He winked at me.

I heaved a loud sigh and grabbed another glass of drink as the waiter approached me. "Probably she has someone else in her life now. I have been absent for a few years." I said, trying to hide my sadness while my heart sank; these thoughts had given me nightmares the last few years.

"Not yet, but... So hustle your bustle." He gave me a knowing look.

"Who is he?" I asked, clenching my fist.

"You will find soon if you don't hurry up." He replied wickedly.

I heaved a loud sigh. "Why do you help me?" I asked suspiciously, looking him in the eyes.

"Because I know who is in my cousin's heart." He replied arrogantly and winked at me. Then he walked away without waiting for me to say anything, sipping his drink with a self-satisfied smirk on his face.

Aurora's POV

I furrowed my eyebrows in surprise as I walked into my office and saw a bouquet of white roses on my desk. My heart started pounding as I guessed from who these flowers were. Liam sent me a bouquet of white roses before going to Paris, promising me that he wouldn't bother me again.

After receiving the flowers, I heard from Serena that Liam went to Paris, and he was going to stay there for a few years. I didn't know why, but after hearing this news, sadness filled my heart. I had to be happy that I got rid of him, but... I still felt bad about his departure.

"Did you miss me, sugar?"

I turned around instantly as I heard Liam's mischievous voice behind me. He gave me a charming smile while leaning against the doorframe, resting his hand in his pocket.

"Liam? What are you doing here?" I asked, surprised while trying to hide my happiness.
