~✧☽❄☾✧~

You were getting your wounds treated.

You had sustained a mild concussion which, if un-checked, could result in serious head trauma.

Giyuu had still been passed out.

He had a far worse head injury than you.

----

Eventually he woke up. He was very disoriented.

You were in a separate room at the time.

So when a Kakushi entered your room and alerted you of Giyuu's consciousness, you bolted out of the room.

Giyuu was rubbing his right temple when you jogged into the room.

Honestly, the running gave you a small headache but you didn't care.

You sat by his side and put your hand on his shoulder.

When he saw it was you, his shoulders relaxed.

"Oh, [Y/N]... you're safe... thank god."

He sniffled a bit.

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you and Sabito... speaking of which, where is he?"

The moment he realized that Sabito wasn't there, his shoulders tensed up again.

Your breathe hitched in your throat, and you hung your head low.

This response only made Giyuu's nerves even worse.

"Please, [Y/N]... tell me he's alright, tell me he's okay."

You kept your head down.

"Please, he's safe right? He must be resting right now so that's why he's not visiting me."

The seconds ticked by.

No answer from you.

Giyuu finally put together, based off of your response that Sabito wasn't fine.

But his hypothesis was only proven correct when you raised your head, yours eyes on the verge of tears, and shook your head.

Something inside him cracked.

He gave a quivering sigh.

His eyes welled with tears.

"I couldn't save him... once again I failed to protect those close to me..."

He was just muttering tiny nothings to himself now.

You prevented yourself from crying, but Giyuu's tears were endless.

He laid back down on the futon and cried violently into the blanket.

He wallowed in pain, and made you watch.

Seeing him like this only made you feel even worse.

Because you were the one who fought alongside Sabito.

You were the one protecting him.

----

Most of the slayers who passed final selection were wounded so they decided to postpone the ore picking.

Once a majority healed, the ceremony was held.

The man congratulated the lot of you for passing.

Come to find out, not a single person died during final selection... besides Sabito.

You and Giyuu picked your ores in silence.

You all were notified that your swords were to be forged and delivered to you soon.
