Part 2
"You boys friends?"
"Brothers." Ricardo replied.
"Go on ahead."
Jordan was the first to walk ahead. CJ walked by his side. "Jordan -"
"I don't care."
"Look, Jordan -"
"I can't right now, CJ." Jordan continued to walk ahead. "You guys should get something to eat. You might be hungry," he said before walking more ahead.
"None of us are hungry." Ricardo replied, catching up to him. "Neither of us can even think about food. Not even CJ."
"Let's just go and sit somewhere." Evan said.
They were sitting at some table. They were seeing families walking around, with little food in their hands. Others were crying and hugging each other.
Fabi was there, holding herself, when she saw the boys, instantly recognizing each of them. She rushed over to their direction, hugging Jordan. She was quick to pull away, realizing what she did. "Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't -"
"It's fine," he interrupted.
"I'm so glad to see your boys. I haven't seen anyone else I know enter those gates. I was just relieved to finally see someone."
"Are you here with your family?"
Fabi looked down at the ground. "I'm the only one," she said softly. "No one in my family made it out. Because of them, I made it out." She looked away, blinking her tears away.
"We also lost our dad." CJ said.
"I don't even know if any of my friends made it. I tried calling anyone I know, but the phones are out. So I'm just waiting for someone I know to enter those gates."
"I wouldn't keep my hopes up." Jordan said.
"Jordan!" Evan called.
"No, it's okay. He has a point. Zombies are something none of us were ready for. It's tough to get out of this one. We have to be prepared for anything to happen."
"How long have you been here, Fabi?" Zander asked.
"Been here for a couple of minutes, actually. I went to go clean up the best I could since I had blood on my hands. I still have stains on my clothes, but that's the least of my worries."
"It's good that you are okay." CJ told her.
"Same goes for all of you." She smiled. "I'm feeling a little hungry, so I'm going to head for the cafeteria. You boys should try to eat as well."
"We're not hungry." Ricardo answered.
"Then at least get some rest."
"We'll try." Evan told her.
"I'm going to be heading for class 105 in the academics building if you go looking for me.
"Okay." CJ said.
She smiled at him, then walked away.
"Want to head for the classroom?" CJ asked.
"If you guys want to rest." Jordan said.
"Come on, all of us need to lay down and take it all in. It hasn't even been that long, but we should."
"He's right," Ricardo said. "For once." CJ gave him a frown.
The five of them stood up from the bench, heading for the classroom. Jordan sat down against the wall, while the other four chose to lay down. He looked at other people who were also in the classroom, with food. Fabi entered the room, moments later with a plate of food. She was looking around the room, checking to see if the brothers were there. When she saw them, a smile was plastered on her face. She went to go sit down with them.
