15. Phantom

Some kid starts pointing at us and yelling.
"Shit. Pope we gotta go."
"Turn the car on!"

Some guy gets up to the window and start pounding on it.
"Go!" Pope turns the car on and he hits the car in front of us.
"God damn it." I mutter.
"Just go, man!" JJ yells.

As Popes driving he's hitting stuff.
"Pope!" I yell.
"I'm living my best life!"
"You can't be driving. Stop!" JJ yells.

"John B, you have to go. Run." I say.
"We'll draw the cops. Go!" JJ says. "I'll get the rig and meet you at the dump tomorrow, at 3!"

John B runs out and we start driving.

Pope smokes some more and Kie makes him switch with her.

"Where too now?" I ask laying my head on JJ's lap.
"Last place they'll ever look."

We pull up at the Cameron's.
"Yeah last place cause of how stupid it is." JJ says.
"She's the only one that can clear him." I say as I jump the fence.
"Shit." He mutters jumping over.

Pope starts singing and babbling and Kie covers his mouth.
"I love you Kie." He says. JJ and I both stop and look at eachother. "Like I'm in love with you."
"You're wasted." She says.
"No I know I'm wasted and that's why I'm saying this now."

I grab JJ's arm and pull him away.
"We can't hear that." I say.
"But it's so entertaining."
"JJ."
"Okay." They catch up to us.

"You two stay here." Kie says.
"JJ please don't let him do anything stupid." I say.
"Roger that." He says.

Kie and I walk to the other side and climb to Sarah's window. We knock. She runs to the window happy to see us.

The window won't open. We show her the reward paper.
"You in on it?"
"You think I am?"
"No." She smiles at us sadly.

"Sarah!" Ward yells.
"Go." She mouths.

We climb down as fast as possible.

We go to the Wreck to crash.

We all barely sleep and in the morning I hear Pope and JJ talking. I get off the booth and walk over to them. I rest my head on JJ's shoulder.

"He's going to be okay guys." I say sighing softly.
"Let's hope." JJ says kissing the top of my head.

"We were in the car they're probably looking for us too." Kie says waking up.
"Well, if we're gonna be outlaws we might as well help find him." Pope says.
"So find him before they do?"
"Yep." I say.

"Imma get gas for the boat." Pope says walking to the door.
"Hey you be careful, okay?" Kie says. He ignores her and turns to us.
"Meet me at the dock at 3, don't be late."

Kie runs after him. JJ and I walk out to the deck.
"What is your problem?"
"Just doing my job."
"Look I'm sorry I hurt your feelings." She tries saying but he keeps reving the bikes engine before taking off.

A helicopter flies above us.
"Who the hell is that?"
"It's probably for John B." I say.

We get inside.
"We need to make them food." I say.

We start making enough food to last them a couple weeks.

JJ and I carry it out to the car.

Kiaras parents are there.
"Let's get in the car." JJ says. I nod.

Her mom is practically begging her not to leave. Kiara cries as she drives off.

We pull up at JJ's.
"I'll come if you want." I say.
"I'll only be a second." He says getting out of the car.
