I knocked on the door softly and waited

"Come in" the voice said, I opened the door and entered

"I need to talk to you" I said

"Have a seat" mummy said and I quickly dropped next to her

"Mummy! I am here to apologise. I know you heard me talking to bade papa, I understand if you are angry at me." I said expecting her to yell at me, but I was surprised when I saw a smile on her face, but the two tears appearing in her eyes got me panicked, I side hugged her

"Mummy please don't cry! I am sorry, I'm very very sorry. If you say I will apologise to bade papa also, but please don't be angry with me" she pulled back a little and wiped her tears

"I'm not angry with you at all, in fact I'm happy that at least you took a stand for my son" she held my arm 

"What do you mean?"

"Hasan was not always like this with Irteza, but his obsession over becoming a doctor turned him into something else. He hurt Irteza and didn't even realise it, i tried talking to Hasan but I was never firm with him, even Irteza always stayed quiet and did whatever Hasan wanted from him to do, he only revolted when he decided to pursue in business." Her tears were falling freely

"Please don't cry mummy" I wiped her tears

"Irteza has suffered so much because of Hasan's stubbornness, but I'm glad you spoke for him, thank you so much"

"You don't have to say thanks"

"After you have talked with Hasan, he was so quiet, he did not even sleep properly and left early morning." She said and I felt slightly guilty

"I'm sorry" I said looking down

"No no beta, I'm not telling you because I want you to feel bad, I was just saying, normally when I say anything in favour of Irteza, he always retorted, but this time he is quiet, maybe your words affected him in a good way"

"I hope so" I checked the time then I got up, "I should go now Irteza must be waiting for me, he asked me the reason for crying last night, I just said I got scolded for bunking the day" I said smiling sheepishly, she also smiled

The day went by normal at the hospital except for continuous taunting from Dr Lubna about leaving early yesterday, everything was normal.

It was lunch time, and I got time to sit with Ankita after two days, we are always so busy at work that we meet only at lunch time and sometimes for evening coffee.

"Where were you yesterday?" She asked the moment she saw me walking towards her, I rolled my eyes, she is always so nosey

"Let's reach the cafeteria then we'll talk" I said

We ordered our daily dose of caffeine and sandwiches then we sat on our spot.

"I must have called you a hundred times, I wanted to tell you to steer clear of Dr Hasan at any cost" she said, and I frowned in confusion

"Why? Because I bunked?" I asked

"Nooo. Don't you know what happened in the hospital yesterday?" She asked

"No! What happened?"

"There was so much chaos yesterday, there was a suicide case of a young boy, must be 20, his body was brought by his family, but by the time they reached, it was too late, he was already gone. And the father lost it, he was blaming us for not treating him, he created such a big scene, that Dr Hasan had to intervene, we even had to call the police"
