Chapter twenty-three

After a good amount of time, a doctor dressed in all white walked out. "Are you with Miss. Verstappen?" the elder man asked. "Yes, what's happening there?" I asked worriedly. "Can you please sit down for a second?" he said and by those words I expected the worst, a few tears fell down my cheeks.

"Her heart stopped, but we successfully got her back, but it turns out she has some internal bleeding and a rupture on her liver, so they are prepping her for surgery now," he said. "But why does her heart stop then? when her liver is the problem?" I was confused and worried. My poor love had a fucking heart attack, this is so unfair.

"She's bleeding very much inside, and her heart couldn't keep up with it. So that's why her heart gave up, but they are taking her in anytime now. they will do anything in their power to save her. Is there someone you can call, the surgery can take a while, it's better that you're not alone" the doctor said.. "Ehm- I don't know, no of course I do, I'll call someone, thanks.. Please let me know whenever you have any updates" I said and he nodded. I was confused, sad, angry, broken and devastated. I felt everything falling apart at this moment.

I found my phone and dialed Jos's number. "Hello Charles, how are you?" he said happily. I immediately got a few more tears down my cheeks, I couldn't talk, but managed anyhow to talk. "It's Olivia, she is- she is in the hospital. we got into an accident" I said while my voice cracked. I felt the silence on the other end of the phone, he was speechless. "No.. Where are you, I'll come right away, is she alright?" he asked, panicking. "She's in surgery now, I'll explain everything when you arrive!" I said.. He was now on his way, Jos called Sophie on the way since I didn't have her number.. I also called Victoria who was on her way as well, she started crying as I told her, it was heartbreaking to hear..

I was still sitting here alone in the waiting room, a lot happened around me but I zoned out and was in my own thoughts, I couldn't think straight.. It then hit me that I had to call Max as well, which I was even more nervous about..

The phone rang for a while, but suddenly he picked up. "It's Max?" He shortly said, I have never spoken with him on the phone, so this was weird for me.

"Hi Max, it's Charles" I said and swallowed, I had a huge lump in my through.

"Is Olivia alright?" he asked, I stayed silent, I didn't know what to say. "Charles!! What is happening!" he said with a more harsh tone. "We were in a car accident, it's not good Max. Olivia is in surgery right now, she had a heart attack before.." I said with a cracking voice.. "This can't be true! Fuck no, where are you!!" He said I could hear him crying on the other end. "We're in the Netherlands, you should come here!" I said. "I'll take the first flight out. Thanks for calling me, please keep me updated. I'll buy some wifi on the flight so you can text me!" He said his voice cracked as well, he sounded so sad.. "I will" I shortly said, then we said our goodbyes and hung up.. I then texted Daniel and Carlos, because I know she would want me to let them know what's happening. I just texted them, since I couldn't handle saying those words anymore.. I also texted my mom and brothers, to let them know what's happening..

After twenty minutes Jos and Victoria arrived, they both went to give me a big hug. "Aw Charles, you don't look good. Have you been checked out?" Victoria asked and held her arm around me. "No, and I will not before I know Olivia is alright!" I said and whipped some tears away from my face, I didn't even know how I looked.. "Charles, I promise we'll keep you updated. But you're bleeding through the bandage, go get it changed. She won't be out of surgery anytime soon" Jos said. "Alright, I will hurry then!" I said and ran towards one of the doctors in the emergency room.. They quickly changed my bandage, and then I ran back to Jos and Victoria. The doctors wanted to run some tests on me, but I refused since I had a more important place to be right now..
