I heard Luke scramble forward to my walk-in closet to retrieve the air mattress that Chris and Amy slept on when they stayed the night with me.
I stood up, and I felt along my bed for the sheets, and things my mother brought in for Luke. I was startled when I heard him behind me so quickly. "I found it, where is your outlet so I can plug it in." He asked.
I turned towards where I knew my bed was, and I sat back down on my mattress. "Its next to the nightstand." I told him.
I listened as I heard him walk around and plug in the built-in air pump. Within minutes I began to hear the loud drone of the air compressor come to life. After a few minutes of noise, the machine shut off announcing that it had finished its task in blowing up the double height twin mattress.
I felt Luke come to my side, and then I felt him take the sheets, and blankets out of my hand. "Thanks," he mumbled quickly, then I heard him fixing up his bed for the night.
Suddenly the thought of Luke sleeping on that air mattress bothered me. "Luke, you must be used to nicer beds." I said, fidgeting with my fingers. "Why don't you sleep in mine, and I'll sleep down there."
"No way, I'm not taking your bed love." He said coming forward, and I felt him a few inches away from my face again. "Believe me, I've slept on worse." He laughed, and I wished I could open my eyes and see his laugh instead of just picturing what I thought it looked like. "I'm not some spoiled famous star yet."
"Are you sure?" I frowned.
He took my arm, and instantly goosebumps formed on my exposed skin. I was worried he would notice, but I was also glad he was touching me again. "I promise, its fine love."
He placed his hands around my waist, and I had to fight off a shiver from the close contact once again. "Good night, MJ, thanks for letting me stay here tonight."
Luke gave me a quick hug, but all too soon he let go of me. I heard him lay down, so I felt my way back to my bed still feeling guilty that he was down there practically on my floor.
I shook my head, and I climbed under the soft covers of my bed. I felt along the wall to my right and clicked off the overhead light. "Nite Luke." I said softly.
I laid there wide awake; I knew I should be exhausted from all the physical activity that I had had today, yet somehow; I wasn't even remotely tired. I had been a ball of excitement this afternoon, and then it was nonstop at the House of Blues, and after at the hotel.
My body ached, but I was still on a high from hearing the boys live again, and now having Luke sleeping a few feet away from me, I was nervous once again.
What was I going to do about the growing feelings I was having for Luke, maybe I was just going insane, but I knew if he liked me back, that I could fall so hard for him?
