CHAPTER 1

Some are completely out of our sight but some have always been in front of us. They are vampires, shifters and magicians. Of course there are conflicting thoughts regarding their presence. Some might agree some might not...but as the students of Myths and Legends, it is our intrigue and our passion to find out about all of these folk tales and legends, old or new. And we will find it. In this subject, there is no place for sane people. Only the crazy and passionate make this their motto. So there is still time, the door is open if you think you ain't cut out for it. But before making any decision, ask your heart, is it curious? Curious about these mysteries? Curious about the hidden things? If yes, then
WELCOME TO MYTHS AND LEGENDS because curiosity is the first step. People say 'curiosity killed the cat' but we are not cats, we are hunters. We are finders. And we won't stop until we are satisfied.

The screen turns black, once the last slide is gone and the presentation ends. The hall is silent for a moment and her heartbeat pulses Was it not good enough? Oh no. What now? But the next moment clapping fills the room and she let's out a relieved breath. She bows and steps down from the stage and takes her seat among the other professors.

The host of the workshop takes the stage and addresses the assembly, "This concludes our workshop for today. I hope that all of the professors, researchers and students assembled here learned something useful about their respective fields. Once again thank you all for attending. Have a good day." Then he leaves.

All the people stand up and make their way out of the hall. The headmaster of her university says, "Good work everyone. And Eris, I knew you could do it. It was pretty great for your first time. Well done."

"Thank you very much sir." She bows, smiling. Her cheeks are glowing with the praise and the happiness in her eyes is evident. Of course, as a newly appointed researcher and professor of the reputed Seoul University she ought to be proud of her first presentation.

This is our protagonist. The name is Jeon Eris. Just this year she completed her Masters and as the result of her hardwork, she was made the professor of English in the Seoul University. But her interest has always been in Myths and legends so with a request she was able to become a researcher of the same. This was her first ever workshop and she presented the way they can introduce any new topics to beginners.

"So, it was the last workshop before summer vacations. Any plans?" Asks the Economics Prof.

Everyone tells about their usual, going back home, going to hillstations, beach, etc etc. Hers is the same, go back to her family. Her family home is in Taewan and she works in Seoul. She has to finish her packing today.
After a small banter, they go their respective ways.

She has finally achieved her dream job and now all is left is to buy a house in Seoul and settle their with her mom and dad.

It will not be that easy to convince her mother. She has always been a little overprotective, though the correct word is overreactive. When she first said that she will study in Seoul, the way her mother looked at her. Jeez.

She thought that her daughter will be swayed by city lights and urban style. The look of distrust in her eyes even though her daughter had never given her any reason to complain. It was very hard for her but she let it pass because she knew that her mother is ill and only doing this because she is worried.

When she moved to her dorm, every week she would call her as a mother would but it would not be to check whether she had settled, whether she had eaten, or how was she managing.
