They both looked dead or asleep, I couldn't exactly tell.
I saw that the boy's belly was bouncing up and down very quickly, so he was very much alive.
Maybe not just...Energetic enough. Or he's exhausted.
The girl, though, showed no signs of life.
That was, until she lifted her head weakly off the ground and looked at me with fear.
She reached and tapped the boy, her whole entire arm shaky.
I didn't dare step any closer, cautioning to what she could do next.
She made an attempt to stand up and face me head on, but failed.
Both of her legs were slashed and bloody, along with her stomach.
Her hand twitched towards what appeared to be a gun.
"Wait!" I yelled out of panic.
"Put ya' hands up wh're I can see 'em!" She screamed at me.
I set Mask gently down, then held my hands in the air.
"Lay y'ur sword on the ground!"
I drew my sword, then placed in on the ground.
"'Ey! 'At means you, too!" She pointed her gun at Mask.
Mask threw his sword down and hurried to launch his hands into the air.
The girl swallowed as she stared at both of us.
She took a shaky breath in, then held it for a moment.
"Ei'er of ya' two boys dare do much more 'an breathe, ya're both done for!" She yelled at us both, shaking her weapon at us.
Then, after a second of watching out every move and counting every pant and drip of sweat we had, she dropped her weapon and fell to the boy's aid.
"Link, oh Link! Come on! Wake up! Please just get up!" She shook him around.
I took a slow step forward, hoping she wouldn't notice.
Yet she did, and with a hop to her feet, threw a knife right past my face, leaving a small mark on my cheek.
"I told ya' not'ta move! Yet ya' did anyway, eh?! Is 'at right?!"
"I can help him, if you want him to get help at all." I said.
She seemed to either calm down, or get so angry and worked up about it that she ran out of energy to care anymore.
"Y-You can?" She asked, her harsh accent fading away for the moment.
"If we take him to Castle Town, we could get him help there."
"Castle...Town? Castle? You guys have a castle? No wonder it's so un-ocean-y here."
"What're you talking about?"
"Well, where we come from, it's a land of islands, not soil. Say...Where are we, anyway?"
"This is Hyrule Field."
"Oh, for the love of the gods! Stop jokin' around! Hyrule ain't a thing no more! It's under the ocean!"
"No... This is Hyrule Field."
"Then...Then...Then we made it! Link! Did you hear that? We made it! We did it!" She looked down to who seemed to be her partner, "Link...?"
The boy whimpered in pain and she touched his chest to roll him off his side.
He—Too—had a bloodied gash across his little belly.
...And I was dumb enough to think Mask was hurt.
