The rain splashed against the road breaking into a billion little pieces. Marley ran into the darkness and the glorious colors almost seemed to dance around in the dim light. She sprinted through a maze of color and flashing lights. She ran for what seemed like an eternity. Her memories flashed before her eyes in a wonderful display in the form of beams of light, or lightning striking her nervous system, as she fled. The green and blue lights on the road suddenly shifted hues and color changed completely. Suddenly the slick pavement was flashing red and blue. Marley ran. She kept running until she was out of breath. When Marley ran out of breath she fell through the road, leaving everything behind.
Echoes of child-like voices bounced off of the walls of the endless abyss before her. She fell through the void and it seemed as if it would never end, until finally she hit the ground. Marley had the wind knocked out of her when she was brought back to reality. The red and blue flashes were the police, and they were trailing her. She had been missing for days when a murder case was opened, and she was the main suspect. Marley sat on the pavement with the raindrops soaking through her pants and dripping from her hair. She stared through a dining room window in front of her, and saw a happy family sitting down for dinner. "Put your hands up!" The cops ordered sternly as they held the gun up directed at her.
She was promptly arrested and taken into custody, eventually undergoing a psychological evaluation. The psychiatrists she saw, deemed her unfit for prison, and instead she was put in an institution. The rain splashed against the pavement as she looked out the window, wondering "will I ever escape my flashing lights?"
