"Why would she think that?" the boy asked. Kerala knew from growing up with Jack and his brothers that boys really enjoyed gossip, seeing Nick so invested in her best friends' relationship was amusing for her.
"Well, it's a long story, but basically it's the perfect moment. Jack's whole family is going to be there, I'm here with you and all of our friends from Canada are flying down as well. Two weeks ago he also asked her whether she had a nail appointment anytime soon, cause Maggie has said many times before that she would say no if her nails were ugly when he proposed. Also, Jack never asks Maggie about her nail appointments, he doesn't care at all." she explained.
"What do you think? Is he proposing?"
"Well I know he picked out a ring a few months ago, but I told him I didn't want to know the circumstances of the proposal, 'cause I would ruin the surprise. Maggie is really good at reading people, especially me, so she would have known instantly if something was up simply from my demeanor."
"This is so exciting!" the boy said jumping in his seat.
"It is indeed." she smiled at the boy, her eyes full of adoration.

The weekend went by really fast for the young couple. After their car ride from the airport Kerala and Nick made some food together for the four of them, Jack arrived home from practice and greeted Sapnap as if he was an old friend and the two boys quickly invaded the hockey player's gaming console for the rest of the day. When Maggie finally got home from work the four of them got dressed to go out and meet the others. Sapnap was still nervous, but Kerala kept assuring him that everything was going to be alright. And she was right, of course. Not only did Jack hype up Sapnap for the whole friend group but the boys informed him, that they all watched his Valorant streams and they already felt like he was part of their group. The boys spent the whole night talking about video games, basketball, and other generic boy stuff, while Kerala and Maggie watched as the Texan boy got along with them. The young girl's heart was full of love, seeing her childhood friends accept the boy she adored in their tight group instantly made her melt. After they left Nick told her how much he enjoyed meeting her friends and how glad he was they actually liked him.
The next day Jack left early for practice and the two lovers slept in so that they could have a lazy morning, but Maggie had other plans: she wanted to go shopping so that she could wear a pretty dress for dinner and she insisted that both Kerala and Nick accompany her so that they could help her choose. So they spent the whole day at the mall out and about, but in the end it was worth it. They found the perfect dress and Maggie was ready for the huge evening ahead. The hockey game was fun, Nick wasn't a huge fan of the sport, but he enjoyed it nonetheless.
After the game they went out for dinner again, Jack ended up proposing to Maggie, and the two girls had a long, high-pitched screaming match about the whole thing and of course they had to facetime all of their other girlfriends about it. Maggie also asked Kerala to be her maid of honor, which she gladly accepted. On their last day in NJ, it was one of their friend's birthday and they ended up throwing a small get-together at Jack's house. They all ended up slightly intoxicated, but they had fun nonetheless.
